I'm going to have to choose 3, but these are my favourites just at this moment in time:
Bruch - violin concert in G minor
Rachmaninov - Piano concerto in C minor
Borodin - Symphony #2 in B minor

All wonderful, and I have not included any Mozart or Beethoven!!

Has to be the introduction to one of my biggest pleasures as a small boy before I experienced 'pop' music - the Lone Ranger Theme Tune. Took many years to discover it was the William Tell Overture.
Very confusing, as there was also a TV series about William Tell.

Here
"Gluck, das mir verblieb" from Die tote Stadt, an aria composed by Erich Korngold and sung by Carol Nesblett and Rene Kollo. Sounds a bit pretentious but first heard it on the soundtrack for the film"Aria"- its a stunningly beautiful piece of music.

I can agree with a number of posts to this thread but I see it as relatively pointless as there will be so many differing points of view.

Narrowed down, perhaps it would have been better if the thread had been 'favourite classical composer'

Beethoven's Symphony no 7 - by a long way
The Karelia Suite by Sibelius - particularly the Intermezzo, which was "murdered" by The Nice in the 1960's
Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.

HHhmmm! Used to like it,but since the council use it as their 'Hold music' on the phone,I now know it...Frontwards,Backwards,Inside out,Back to front...I lost my love for it....but do like Richard Wagner music, especially 'Ride of the Valkeries'...
