Difficult this.

Probably Rachmaninoff rhapsody on a theme of paganini although I do like my Chopin.

but... If we're branching in to Opera, it's hard to beat Au fond du temple saint

Rachmaninoff was exceptional as highlighted in the film Rush. He wrote on the basis that he had a reach far wider than an octave. If you can play his second then the stage beckons.

Way too many to say one definitive piece but this is right up there for me.




This my son is my most favourite piece of all time and thanks for posting it.
He wrote this when he was 24 years old, amazing how the labours of life can be crammed into 10 mins and 56 seconds.
