Theme from Midnight Cowboy (as well as just about everything else) by John Barry. I think I read somewhere that he wrote this in 15 minutes...the genius.

Britains finest composer

I think that honour is probably attributed to Benjamin Britten, Vaughan Williams or Handel, but Barry's film music is certainly very good

The lark Ascending - Vaughan Williams is truly sublime and the finest piece of British music

If we're including "proper" classical stuff, I'll have anything and everything by Mssrs Beethoven, Mozza, Bach, Tschiakowsky etc etc. Erm, I mean the ones without any fat birds SINGING on them, obviously.

Esp. the Eroica. Love that shit.

Now we are talking.

laCrimosa from Mozart's Requiem is my all time favourite classcal oratorio piece - really great to sing too!!!

the lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan-Williams, the best musically

cantique De Jean Racine - gabrielle faure - best song.

bit of a movie cliche now, tragic scene, cue

Barber - Adagio for Strings

But there is no denying this is probably the single most beautiful piece of music ever written

there we will have to disagree....beautiful that is is. SHoreham Oratorio had a go at singing the Agnus Dei version of barber's adagio with varying degrees of success shall we say:down:

John Barry's somewhere in time is without doubt the most stunning and beautiful movie film score by some considerable margin, absolutely breath taking
