Close one between Holding and Lloyd for me with Holding just getting the edge for his constant use of the word PLUM or PLUMB... (Whichever is the correct spelling).

Those two are good, I like the Kiwi one who never seems to get the big matches. And Nick Knight's pretty good

You mean Jeremy Coney?... I don't think he's a full timer with the team, it's just the ten above that are full time I believe, they've lots of occassional commentators too like this Aussie Drongo on now...

:lolol:

I'd just like to add a sidenote that I don't believe there is a more knowledgable commentator around than Nick Knight.

Holding has an immensely soothing voice, it's like listening to treacle pouring slowly down the side of a mountain of marshmallows, into a lake of melted chocolate & caramel
:lolol:

Mmmm, I'm hungry now.

here hare here
tough choice between Atherton, Gower and Holding but I went for Athers.

and, as i have stuff all work to do and am loving the cricket right now, here are some thoughts that no-one will be interested in...

Paul Allott - meh. he's OK. can be annoying sometimes but not enough to spoil the game.

Mike Atherton - i really like his insight and i may be biased because i really like his Times column.

Ian Botham - wanker. only there because of his talent on the field, in the commentary box he is useless but seems to think everything he says is either genius or comedy gold. the only time i enjoy his commentary is when Nasser is winding him up.

David Gower - mr smooth. i like his attitude and dry wit. always give the impression that he doesn't give a shit and that everything is just a jolly good laugh.

Michael Holding - superb voice, knows his stuff and tells it like it is.

Nasser Hussain - has grown on me recently as he's mellowed out a bit and now doesn't seem to feel like he has to bitch and moan all the time. his ability to get under Botham's skin is also a plus.

Nick Knight - sorry but...tosser. no personality. likes to come up with wonderful theories which, on close inspection, almost always tun out to be complete arse.

David Lloyd - good old fashioned cricket eccentric but too often tries to play up to his 'character'. quite enjoyable in small doses.

Ian Ward - quite like him but he's best suited to the in studio role chatting away during the breaks. i just wish he would lose that insanely annoying habit of saying 'mmmmm' when other people are talking. it gets right on my tits.

Bob Willis - similar to Bumble, OK in small does but tries too hard to play up to his character. his character being Mr Grumpy.

In terms of incisiveness and calling a spade a spade it has to be Bob Willis - there's few pundits who will name names when England have played shit but he's one of them.

I do like Botham, Hussain's pretty good especially when interviewing - he'll ask the tough questions.

I really DON'T like David Lloyd, I think he's a bit lightweight and a bit of an idiot.

The dream package is Mark Nicholas presenting, Blofeld and Tony Greig in the commentary box, Boycott and Benaud the pundits.

All the players hate Bob Willis - which in the light of the Sally Gunnell/Roger Black athletics love-in fiasco probably means he's quite good.

Bumble's good, but needs someone on planet earth for a bit of balance. Ie Holding. And be interested to see how Warne pans out.
