I thought the Holiday was a reasoanble enough film, why the hostility towards it ?.

That's right, thanks.

And, as MoH later said, they were not deserters. The French were not doing very well so their commanders blamed the frontline soldiers of cowardice and picked 3 men to be shot as an example to the others.

Disgraceful, very sad. . . and probably true.

that wasnt set at christmas, im not sure of the name of the film but the story is about pte eddie d slovik, the only american soldier executed for cowardice in ww2.

Ah, we have a dispute. Any film buffs to put this to bed?

I do remember Path's of Glory but did they get shot in a snow covered scene with "have yourself a merry little christmas" playing? I'm not so sure.

I do remember Path's of Glory but did they get shot in a snow covered scene with "have yourself a merry little christmas" playing? I'm not so sure.

No music, just a drum roll and after they are shot birdsong.
The merry little Christmas scene does ring a bell though, from a more modern film?
