I'd have loved to have seen Nelsons goal. But one of my best goals was Cullip against the Cheats. The season, the night, the opposition, everything was set-up - and it was finished with a thumping header. Happy days.

been thinkin and in particular order.

Suprised no one has mentioned Danny Wilsons winner at Palace.

Dean wilkins v Ipswich

Nelson's against Brentford

Terry Conner, jimmy case, Gerry Ryan v Liverpool

Im also thinking of a virgo goal in championship but cant remember what game.:(

anyone remeber dean saunders miss and taking out a copper in front of the North stand?

Regarding the virgo goal i would imagine it was either watford away or leicester away

Ahhh yes....and the giant brown envelope being passed around over our heads.
A scene of marvel.

Jimmy Case volley as the ball droppd over his shoulder on the run in the 7-0 v Chester(?) was a great goal.

Think it was against Charlton

For me there was one against Blackpool in 87/8 (I think). We were 1 up, they equalised in the 88th minute, we broke upfield and the ball ran to JOHNNY CRUMPLIN 35 yards out and he smashed it into the top corner. Cue equal amounts of joy and amazement that the GENIUS delivered one into the onion bag.

Garry Nelson then did something similar in injury time and we somehow won 3-1.

Oh, and GRAHAM PEARCE lobbing the keeper at LEEDS in 84/5 in the 93rd minute for a 3-2 victory too!

older nsc ers amongst us will readily recall Mark Lawrenson's goal at the Goldstone v Wolves in the League Cup in 1978 (?). Sixty yard run from inside his own half to the North Stand capped off by smashing it in to ignite BEDLAM:goal::dance:

I went to that Blackpool game and have the video. It was a great goal by the Genius. The Blackpool commentator on that video is the funniest thing i have ever heard,He is SO BIASED and just sounds so pissed off when we scored our goals. If i was more of a computer wiz kid i would put it up on NSC.

Its been said on here many a time on these threads but Gary Nelson away at Brentford,FA cup 1987.It always gets described but you really had to be there.

You did, I was...and it was!

and it was blowing a gale at the time which may well have assisted Crumps when he smashed it in

I too have the video and the commentary is priceless.:laugh:

Thanks Greens :(
Two spring to mind...

Mick Ferguson's winner at Millwall in the 80's, to end their thirteen month unbeaten run, and...

Steve Penney smashing in our second at The South Stand end versus Birmingham, when the oppo were on top, again in the 80's...

The journey home from both games was a tad worrying :guns:

Nels at Brentford - echo everything everyone else has said (Sublime)
Clarky at Orient - 100 yard piledriver that was still rising when it hit the net
Wardy against Blackpool when the cheats were fixing the game at the Dell (lost my shoes in the North Stand surge)
Eric Potts two injury time goals to beat Sunderland
John Byrne at Anfield (mental, mental)
Wembley first game

And the greatest goal... Smithy smashing it past Gary Bailey to win the Cup Final (in my dreams)

That's the one! Being at the Goldstone for the game & then seeing it on Match of the Day later that night was superb. Anyone know if it's on Youtube?

For me, it's got to be Jimmy Case against Sheffield Wednesday in the semi-final. Not just because of what it meant, but also because it was a phenomenal strike.

Amazing to think back to the weekend. Albion hogging all the headlines in every national paper - and there was one I'm sure that had a double page spread titled "Anatomy of a super goal".

Sad to think it'll never happen again. Not just for us, but for anybody outside of the multi-millionaire clique. Even if we did reach the FA Cup Final, it's not quite the same any more and chances are John Terry would have a tweaked hamstring that would "merit" eight pages of coverage instead.
