That is one hell of a debatable statement. Exactly the sort of tune that would have reinforced my view of the night being crap.

C'mon, losten up. It was a party, not a serious night of music. Stop being a snob.

Ive been to the last 2 BBeachB's, in the summer, not the godawful weather of NYD, and thought the last summer one in Brighton was total arse in terms of crowd and music, and have seen FBS numerous times before in clubs like Fabric and the proper Big Beat Boutique at the Concorde (where you there?) and at Glastonbury and can conclude the bloke as a dj is certainly now in the lower leagues of credibilty. Bigbeat Big tune bingo (tm) is a term Id use when listening to one of his sets.

I also heard some of it on Southern FM and can confirm that the tunes where certainly Big tune bingo (tm) and the mixing appalling.

To be honest its not even the music that Id have disliked the most and could have probably tolerated but looking at the photos on this thread Id say Im probably right about the crowd too. I might be a f***ing snob but I do know what Im talking about when it comes to dance music and partying and what NYD would have been like. You can say you enjoyed it, I know for a fact Id have hated it.

Just my opinion.

If you look at my first post youd have seen that I predicted the crowd would be tragic which is what would have put me off more than anything.

Well, Spiderman, Girl with fluffy bunny ears, several sunglasses at night, some obviously very unclued up people just there cos its fat boy and they think its cool, and a golf visor all visible as well as a load of other dodgy look at me hats and thats from 3 pictures. All the proof I need.

The best time i had was when all the serious gurners had f***ed off. It was a fun time,i ts wot fatboy slim does, fun. Its not serious long drawn out progressive house mixing, nor is it serious clubbing, its fine. If your playing to 20,000 you're going to get all kinds of people who want to come, maybe at the gate they should of asked questions to weed out the non-serious clubbing crew?

As much as I love a good night out down the honey club or Zap, I knew new years day was all about the fun and the music.

DJ Norman Cook winces as he gets the first of a series of electric shocks

Fatboy Slim has ruled out a repeat of his acclaimed winter beach party after getting 15 electric shocks as the rain lashed down on his record decks.

The Hove DJ, real name Norman Cook, praised the 20,000 fans who defied torrential rain to make the New Year's Day event a triumph but last night said he would not want to force anyone to brave the elements again.

He told The Argus it was "highly unlikely" he would be staging a beach party this summer either - despite the police and council saying they would be willing to consider allowing the event.

Cook said: "I definitely wouldn't do another one at this time of year. The weather is too unpredictable. Everyone was on our side this time, everyone worked together - except the gods."

He said the conditions were the worst he had ever performed in. He considered calling off the concert after receiving his first electric shock from his record decks just 10 minutes after taking the stage but kept going for the thousands of fans who carried on dancing through the rain.

Cook said: "After all we had gone through to make it happen I had to keep going. The one good thing was that the shocks were stopping my hands getting frostbite."

He said he had looked to his production manager after the first shock to see whether the equipment was properly earthed and that it was safe.

He was given the go-ahead so continued, wincing with pain as several more electrical charges hit him during his two hour set.

Cook said: "We're talking about small jolts here. I'm smart enough to know the difference between a 240 volt blast and killing yourself. After the tenth time my hands were so numb it didn't hurt any more, anyway."

He had not realised how severe the weather was until he bumped into fellow DJ David Guetta coming off the stage before him. The Frenchman finished his set ten minutes early because his equipment was damaged by the rain.

Cook said: "I always said it was a stupid day to do it but when I got out there it was horrendous. The wind was so strong it was blowing the needles off the decks.

"It felt fantastic to be up there, though. It was beautiful. The crowd was amazing. If it hadn't been a Brighton crowd I think it would have been wiped out but they were great. They stuck at it through everything."

He said he was delighted the plans agreed with the police, council and other authorities had worked like clockwork.

Sussex Police said yesterday it would consider allowing a larger crowd of 25,000 for a similarly-organised event in future.

But Cook said: "I don't think I'll be doing it again at this time of year."

A Brighton and Hove City Council spokesman said a detailed foul weather safety plan had been drawn up by Cook's technical team which showed the electrical installation met outdoor standards and were safe in rain.

Wouldn't have thought there would be that much left over after the organisers paid for paying for 150 stewards and 130 police officers and all the normal expenses associated with putting on an outdoor gig that size.
