Oh God. It took us about 4 pages but we finally managed to get to the play-off final attendance AGAIN. Yes we know that you took 500,000 people to the Millenium stadium for a play-off final, we know that you went to our final which obviously means that we have NO fans, and we know that we can't have a go at you Ali because you supported us over Falmer.

Sorry.

But i'd rather have a reputation as a bunch of do-gooders who are willing to help people out, than be known for having a chairman who's tighter than a nuns chuff.

Your stadium is what, a 24,000 capacity - yet your average attendance last season was 15,500. And has only once this season got over 20,000. So yes the other 20,000 who went to Wembley do appear to have 'ceased to exist'.

Less than 20 years ago the mighty Leeds United were averaging only 13,259 for their home matches in this particular division. A lot of Leeds fans seemed to 'cease to exist' when the going got tough.

You were doing so well there Shelton, right up to the final line.
Cue Ernest/FG and their "Dick TIGHT" replies.

Yeah but Mr Madjeski has obviously got money. Dick Knight is potless remember.

Oh, I almost forgot! He must have a load of money from Sporting Options right? That's why he should resign straight away right? :dunce:

Blimey - I go off to do some work, I get back, and the controversy is still raging on!

I think Reading fans are pretty much the same as any other fans in the country with exactky the same cross-section as Brighton.

Happy now?

Bloody hell.

(Your chairman should still have at least deferred payment though, selfish **** that he is)

Thank you.
Maybe some of your own set of fans will now latch onto that now its been said by one of your own.

BUT - if our club had done what your club has done, many of us - certainly the large majority of NSCers - would have gone f***ing ballistic at the board. We would have harrassed and harangued until the debt was written off. We would NOT have sought to defend our Chairman, nor would we have agreed with him.

I wouldn't call Leeds, mighty.

And indeed, the fair weather people do/have stop going when the going gets tough, and much as we need the £££ they spend, ER and Leeds are better off without those who came along for the ride. We have a core of support now who've stood by no matter. Though you can be sure the 'glory' (used in the loosest sense of the term) will be back should things start going well.

I think we've gone slightly off the point here. It's the typical situation where one club has made a stance, and is sticking to it, and every other club picks on them. I'd be interested to know how many other clubs are having this discussion on their forum.

Having said that, of all the clubs it could be, it happens to be potentially one of the more wealthy clubs outside of the premiership. I use the word 'potentially' because if the club suddenly needed some cash, they have somebody who can provide it. I think it's piss-poor that a club like Reading in the situation they are in cannot see what is going on here, particularly in a weekend where Fans United has dominated the FL headlines.

That said, even if the fans did write to the chairman to point this out, it's still pretty poor that the fans are having to point this out to a club that should be a benchmark for clubs in the lower leagues. This is football, not business, and while it is commendable that clubs like Reading are financially sound, you are the lucky ones, not every club has a sugar daddy. It's easy to run a business when have a 100M fortune behind you from the sale of Autotrader, so he hasn't done anything spectacular in getting the business from what it was to where it is now, other than throw money at it when he has needed to.

And TLB, fans from other clubs ask us for our help, we don't put ourselves on them. What is with you people, other fans offer a bit of help, and suddenly we're self-appointed guardians!! Twat.

Falmer, soon...
Whitbread was contracted to Reading. Reading would be paying his wages had they not benefitted from him going on loan to Exeter. Reading made £7k ish from the deal in saved wages for the period he was on loan at Exeter.

Seems a little harsh not to accept half when wages are already budgetted for.

It took a while, but I knew I'd get a bite eventually.....

IT WAS A JOKE! LIGHTEN UP, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

Mind you, Fans United dominated the Football League headlines? Are you having a laugh?

Alright dominate might be a bit strong, but it was certainly a big focus of the weekend

Fans United didn't get as much coverage as you seem to think it did. In fact, I'm disgusted to report that the Wales on Sunday* barely covered the event at all. A very brief mention in the small Wrexham match report and that was it. No pictures or special articles at all. Which just about sums up the rugby-obsessed Welsh media I'm afraid.

The coverage in the Western Mail was a little better on Monday, but not much.

(* This was the Southern edition of the paper. The coverage may have been more extensive in the Northern edition, although I somehow doubt it as the Wales v New Zealand rugby international took up most of the paper.)
