Spot on, I think there’s literally no point in buying proven players at this level. If they’re or Moses or Macs quality in their prime they ain’t coming here. So why spend a large chunk of cash on a player who does really well and wants to leave, possibly running his contract down. If we want top, top players the only way we’re going to get them is very young and or near the end of their career. Then sell them for a very tidy profit. We’ve literally done the hardest part build a model and have a global reputation; it’s brilliant from and football and financial sense. If we’re lucky a few might want to stay because of the club and city. If we can win a trophy even better. We can’t and shouldn’t change this policy to meet one managers desires. This won’t be changing nor should it. If RDZ goes good luck to him he’s been brilliant, it might just be we can’t meet his demands which is fine; we move on and grow.

I think Barbs OBE mentioned something about not wanting us to almost lose the lot as in the dark days.
Bloom will be prudent with the purse strings, and not bow to those keen to spend his cash.

Everyone seems quite chipper that he will turn up for work IF he's happy about it next season. I might try this at work tomorrow as well as a bit of brutal honesty with my colleagues and see how my day goes.

I’ve been to a lot of these fans forums and refrained from asking my usual nonsense question. However, De Zerbi walked past me on his way to stage. I’ve never seen an Albion manager with his ‘presence in a room’ before. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. He just has that X factor. Can’t put my finger on it but he is just an astonishingly inspiring in person.

Stomach? The relevance is that we are a club that has gone from the very bottom of the football league to the elite end of the Premier League. That’s f***ing historical perspective. Or more likely. He's seeing what offers , if any he gets in the summer. I can't see him just quitting. He has a whole team with him and bloom won't be giving out charity.

First one I've been to for a couple of seasons and enjoyed it. RDZ certainly has more presence than any of the 20 or so managers in my time.
Based on tonight's performance, I'm still convinced he's staying, and I still really hope he does.

I picked up on that but I think he was reverting back to an earlier point too that next season, the squad could be different - he was very clear several times that he likes to have players playing where they feel good/are best at playing based on their characteristics, so I think he was saying we will not necessarily see the same methods or system next season, if we have different players, whether he was here or not. I guess it is impossible to answer questions about specific squad tactics if you don’t know what the squad is going to look like after the summer window (especially when most of the questions were veiled inquiries into whether he will be here next season )

So you didn’t get the bit where he said quite clearly that there is nothing that could pull him away from Brighton if he was happy at Brighton and that he was not ‘career’ orientated? - ( I took that to mean he wasn’t motivated to leave a club just for the prestige and better money if it came along.)

I think you are doing him a disservice if you are suggesting he‘s waiting to see what offers come in before leaving - I think he is waiting to see what PB/TB’s strategy is for next season before committing to stay. He’ll be far more in demand if he stays and gets us a qualifying place back in Europe.

Totally this. I was all doom and gloom on Sunday afternoon but I think RDZ played a blinder there. By no stretch do I think he's nailed on to be our coach next season but he clearly hasn't thrown the towel in. Barber also said "We and Roberto are happy with the appointments" referring to the medical chaps that are coming in. That's really positive. Nothing is ever guaranteed in football but I am much more positive after that. The poor results had overshadowed the amazing club, strategy and manager we have! Bring on Villa and next season. UTA!!!

Agree although it’s slightly annoying to know thousands will desert when players move on. I just don’t understand this as a ‘legacy fan’, not having any emotional attachment to a club. Our club. But then not everyone’s an Uber like you and I
