Great idea but why is a diverse cross section of fans only made up of season ticket holders?

Season Ticket Holders and My Albion+ members.

I think that most fans who live locally enough to make four meetings a year will at least have shelled out £20.00 to get a pair of Albion socks and a keyring!

A fan led advisory board will be just that, advisory.
Let's start with the Spurs ticket fiasco.
BHA. ITV want to show our game at 8pm on a Saturday.
Fans. No way, how will we get home.
BHA. No, ITV will show it at 8pm and we have no say.
Fans. But we are the advisory board and we say fans should have a say about KO times.
BHA. Yes, you can have your say but ITV say 8pm Saturday. End of!
Fans. How many tickets do we get.
BHA. Up to 9000
Fans. Great, so we can all go.

I fear you're right on that example. It's a little bit like trying to stop a tank by throwing a feather at it. That said I am sure there are some superficial things which could be listened to and acted on.

TV times are not something that the club have a lot of control over so therefore this group won't either.

Probably have no say in flasks, bottle tops, striker signings or leaving players up on corners.

However I would hope things like the sharing of season tickets would be something this group could have influence in and would have been able to provide input into developing a better solution than the one we currently have.

Agreed. On the one hand this could all be a meaningless tick box move after the Tracey Cox report, and the fans may have no influence whatsoever but will be there to for Barber to deflect to when fans start moaning.

But on the other hand, and I am very hopeful this is the case, it could be a good chance for people at the club that make decisions other than Barber to actually get some insight into what the non millionaire paying public actually think/want/need.

Jenny Gower's arrival on the public scene is a good thing i think and I don't think it will do too much harm to have the other Directors (not Bloom or Barber) engaging with supporters, even if it is only once a year.

Perhaps it's just me but I think if the club are going to consistently boast that they are the best at engaging fans then there should be more insight into how decisions are made and who by. At the moment, it's Barber every time using different channels to justify decisions already made on behalf of Bloom's millions and generosity. But this fan panel will hopefully be the start of a shift beyond that and a bit more transparency and input into the things that impact the average regular.

Time will tell.

This is excellent news - the club does so much right, but does occasionally gets things wrong. Not often, but all businesses can improve by engaging with their customers, in this case us, the fans.

I really hope it will allow us fans to put our point of view across without it being instantly dismissed as I feel is sometimes the case at the moment.

Can I be the first to throw my hat in the ring?

Another great initiative by the club/

It makes my blood boil when every time the club tries to do something to improve things there are always a few on here that within
minutes of the announcement have loaded their machine guns and are firing n all directions without a second thought.

Re the Spurs tickets - the poster has answered their own question. I fully expect PB to answer 1) we are in the hands of the TV companies, and b) we had to make a decision on the number of tickets to take by xx/xx/22 and from the feedback and complaints we have received it appears to have been the right decision (I don’t believe half of the stories about “me and 20 non STH fancied going to the match but can’t cos we waited for general sale). Ps - I agree the club comms could’ve been better.

If this is the truth isn’t that what we want to hear?

8 is a manageable number and it should represent the fan base, not necessarily every fan cohort, eg representation should be
weighted towards the mens 1st team.

What if one or more of the advisory board are unable to make the meeting, how much do they have to pay to enable someone to go in their place to the meeting?

Sadly, as is usual with these things, anybody who wants to be on the Fan Advisory Board is probably the last person who should be on a Fan Advisory Board.

Interesting. NSC should have it's own candidate selection process, then put forward it's chosen individual - nailed on to get a place with the 'NSC vote' carrying him/her home

Items 2 and 3 on the list are a complete waste of space. The only discussion about the women's team should be a proposal to disband it and spend the money on something useful.

The Green Bay Packers have a ballot of eligible fans for advisory board positions, which goes some way towards avoiding too many of the wrong sort of people getting involved.

It is being run by Jenny Gower, not Paul Barber. That is because the Albion is a proper business with a lot of good people working in it so the CEO is not involved in every aspect of it.

Really? I though the club was run from a shed in an allotment, where three ashen-faced men meet up, once a week, and plot to take our money and do this great club down. There can be no other explanation for some of the vituperative posts on NSC, dating back to when Dick Tight wrestled control of the club and forced us to play in Gillingham.

Another fan of Douglas Adams?

Although the link you quote works, the subsequent link to the application form gives a '404 Page Not Found' message, well at least for me it does

Wouldn’t worry, can’t see that anyone on here meets all the application criteria anyway :lolol::lolol:

In producing this shortlist, the club will:

(a) consider how the applicants demonstrate appreciation of and compliance with the club’s values

(b) seek to ensure that the shortlist is diverse and inclusive

(c) seek to include candidates that promote and support the importance of strong ethics and social responsibility

As part of the form you will also need to have the nominated support of one other season-ticket holder or member from the four representative groups.

Likewise.

I do think this is a positive step though. Some transparent/feedback consultation on ideas.

As long as the club don't only select 'bots' like Chailey, as you put it the other day!
