Obviously the Cucu stuff was after the vote, but, again, it's immensely frustrating that people are only sharing this about him now. This is stuff we needed to know during the campaign and when votes were being cast when, apparently, no one gave a shit

TBH I paid such little attention to the FAB that I didn’t know he was even running until I saw him tweet he was on it.

TBH I paid such little attention to the FAB that I didn’t know he was even running until I saw him tweet he was on it.

Which is fair enough, but there are clearly other people on Twitter who didn't want him on but only ganged up on him after the result.

It's a little unfair to carry on digging out one bloke as well, but what I will say is that I voted for him purely based on his bio, because I strongly believe the club needs to regularly hear LGBTQ+ voices (in fact, every professional club does).

With nothing to counter it from anywhere I cast my vote. Then, it would appear, the guy has done something idiotic on his very first appointment under the banner and, not only that but has an allegedly dodgy Twitter history. You would think that if you wanted to have a particular demographic on here, and that you thought a candidate was unsuitable who was outside that demographic, you'd point it out before the fact. Not you personally, but many who seem to have hounded him on Twitter after the vote, rather than talk to the club or RT his stuff before the vote closed.

He has been a known entity on Twitter for at least two seasons now, if voters did the smallest amount of research on those wanting to represent them they'd have seen a ton of this stuff, especially in the voting period where many users dredged up some of his posts from a year or two ago that got him suspended.

Either voters decided to do no research whatsoever and vote based on a one paragraph bio (which would be very silly) or they saw it, acknowledged it and decided misogynistic, creepy and aggressive behaviour either accurately represented them or wasn't enough to deter them from voting for him, and given recent much wider scale elections, option 2 sounds as plausible as option 1 :lolol::lolol:

Wouldn't you have to a) follow him and b) be on Twitter though?

How many of these creepy tweets did you RT? How many young Northstanders follow the middle aged leader of Proud Seagulls? How were people who have come off Twitter precisely because of this toxicity meant to know? Go back on to something that's become poisonous, just to see poison? Bit odd that.

a) during the voting you could have just browsed the #BHAFC hashtag and saw plenty of screenshots
b) yes, but if you're thoroughly researching people who are going to represent YOU to the bigwigs at the Albion, I'd expect people to do the bare minimum and take a closer look at those they were thinking of voting for

How many of these creepy tweets did you RT? None, because he blocked me a while ago because I called out some really disgusting sexist behaviour, which he got a 72 hour suspension for

How many young Northstanders follow the middle aged leader of Proud Seagulls? He has almost 4,000 followers on Twitter, so he has a pretty solid online presence.

How were people who have come off Twitter precisely because of this toxicity meant to know? By researching candidates?

Go back on to something that's become poisonous, just to see poison? Bit odd that. No more odd than someone voting for someone simply because they're gay.

Unless of course they put themselves up for local election and instead of having behaved like a **** on Twatter they behave like a **** on NSC [emoji6]

I hate to be pedantic, but the person you are referring to behaved like a **** in real life, twitter, NSC, some free 'paper', in fact everywhere. I do have my own theory as to why but Bozza says we mustn't be insulting

A closer look like seeing that the club had approved him, that he's in charge of a fan organisation with a good reputation, that his bio tied up with what I knew about him and that not a single person on the thread about the vote - this very thread here - had mentioned concerns? Instead I should just look for some random kid on Twitter doing a pile on about sexism?

As do you, yet apparently you didn't influence jack shit.

How were people who have come off Twitter precisely because of this toxicity meant to know? By researching candidates?

See above.

Go back on to something that's become poisonous, just to see poison? Bit odd that. No more odd than someone voting for someone simply because they're gay.

Actually the oddest thing is still crying about something you were apparently not that bothered about. Well that and being English and still thinking Trump was cheated :lolol:

If you're not on Twitter I understand, its sad you were duped, as were the club.

You don't have Twitter, so how do you know? :) For the record he's got almost double the presence.

See above.

I don't see where I am crying? Someone posted a FAB member breaking the very explicit rules on Day 1, anyone who knew that representative I am sure wouldn't be surprised given his online behaviour, something I very simply pointed out. No crying, no sadness, no anger, just pointing out facts and weirdly enough everyone but you agreeing with me, shocker.

No clue where this Trump was cheated thing just came from? Unhinged rambling? Donald Trump was soundly beaten in 2020 by Joe Biden and thoroughly deserved to lose the election, which he did fair and square, what are you even going on about?

There might well be some tactical motives (the club and the PL are sceptical about some of the recommendations in the govt fan led review). Perhaps the FAB will help there.
That doesn’t mean that PB or Bloom aren’t genuine in their attempts to engage with and listen to fans - they invest a lot of time into it if it’s merely a facade. And anyway they’ve been doing it for years before it was top of the FA todo list.
And the rush to dismiss the FAB before they’ve even met (it’s not legitimate ! It’s powerless ! It’s purely a sop to govt pressure ! It’s full of the wrong people) is a bit tiresome … how about wait and see ?
No way am I dismissing it. Keep fingers crossed there is some gain for supporters.
However good PB is as a CEO, consulting and learning from supporters is in my experience not one of his strengths unless a few bob in it

Until reading the above, I had not the faintest idea that there was such a thing as Proud Seagulls.

I wonder how much he/they do to promote themselves to potential members?

Not particularly relevant to this discussion, just an observation/curiosity.

Funny you should ask that, I actually did a podcast episode with one of the founding members in late 2020 as I felt like they were a group that a lot of fans knew very little about, you can listen to it here: https://togetherbha.transistor.fm/episodes/episode-103-proud-seagulls-bad-var-decision-36335 (You can listen to it on iTunes/Spotify etc. wherever you listen to podcasts, its episode 103 of TogetherBHA)

Might be some obviously outdated convo topics on the current at the time Albion side but the Proud Seagulls stuff is at the beginning and I found it very interesting and enlightening.

I'll have a listen, thank you.

I generally think that such groups are a bit divisive and I would almost certainly never join one, but it will be interesting to hear the other side.

But that was the problem IMO I had with the process, everybody was given one name and 50 words, with no link to any social media. Even on Twitter people didn’t know my name, as I don’t use my actual name as my Twitter handle (for obvious reasons), I’m surprised they didn’t look into people’s social media’s anyway as there was stuff I deleted (nothing bad just moaning about early leavers and retweeting videos of people fighting in pubs). I’ve had issues with the said member on Twitter before, but I think his heart in the right place, but he does need to be careful with some of the shall we say, odd, content he posts. I do agree pretty much with what Whitechapel says though, my initial ideas would probably have not been able to be acted on, if I was elected.

I can’t remember exactly why now but after something was posted online and I commented on it he started sending me odd PMs several months ago….I blocked/unfollowed. Was quite surprised (but in some ways not) to see him on the candidate list and alluded to that in the run-up to the vote (including on here) but no surprise he got in on the ticket he was riding. Happy to wait and see how he and the others do but wasn’t a very good start

(Just arrived back on this thread as I catch up on my recent taggings...)

I'm not sure it's particularly fair to accuse people of being silly / doing insufficient research on candidates.

Just quickly scanning down here - https://www.brightonandhovealbion.c...-board/fan-advisory-board-vote?dm_t=0,0,0,0,0 - I think there were 29 candidates in total.

Did anyone really invest what would have been several hours, at the very least, to try and locate all social media accounts for each and every one and, once located, trawl through posts to try and fully form an opinion as to who may be best placed to be on the FAB?

If you did this, for all 29 candidates, well played to you - that's very conscientious. I can't imagine too many others did so.

I'm happy to do something. Maybe setup a "Ask the FAB" sub-forum where people can post questions, suggestions and the like. However, it probably needs...

1. One or more FAB members being happy to keep an eye on things posted or, at least, give it a scan ahead of their meetings (or other times as appropriate)
2. People being reasonable about their expectations in return, ie not every post will receive a direct response due to sheer volume, possible duplication, availability of time for points to be raised and discussed.

But if any of the NSC FAB members are happy to pick up 1 above, then I'll get something set up, and we can see how it works out.

Which FAB members are NSCers? Is it possible to tag them and see if they'd be interested in this. It feels like NSC could be an important source of issues/suggestions for discussion (obviously caveated by your comments above).

We are looking at how we can use NSC as a conduit for suggestions/ideas/feedback.

I've spoken to Bozza about it and I'm going to be looking after it, whatever 'it' turns out to be.

In terms of which FAB members are on here, I know Nigel is, but of the others, I'm not sure.

The FAB are discussing communication and how we gather ideas and pass on what we do.

NSC is an obvious and excellent channel (has NSC ever been described as a communication channel before?)

Incredibly though there are thousands of Albion fans who don't log on here daily, don't read emails from The Albion don't use twitter, and don't do Facebook.

We need to reach these people too.

How should we do that?
We want to be able to reach everyone right?
