Surprised nobody has mentioned the legend that was Denis Foreman. His lads, Kevin and Michael used to run rings round everyone in kickabouts up at Easthill Park in the late 60s and early 70s.

For people old enough to remember the Wacky Races cartoon - the man who voiced Dick Darstedly, Paul Winchell, as well as being a voiceover artist was also an actor, comedian and ventriloquist. He was also an inventor. Among his inventions were an artificial heart, a disposable razor, a blood plasma defroster, a flameless cigarette lighter, an "invisible" garter belt, a fountain pen with a retractable tip, and battery-heated gloves.

There's a theme here:

Fabien Barthez, France goalkeeper and now a racing driver/team owner
Sir Chris Hoy, Olympic cyclist, racing driver
Patrick Dempsey, sexy ass actor, racing driver/team owner

There are more, but quite a few professionals have turned to racing later on in life.

Some sportsmen are ridiculously good at several sports. I am pretty sure that as well as being ranked one in the word for cricket AB de villiers is also a scratch golfer, could have been an international hockey or Rugby player and I think one other. Pretty impressive (although Jos Buttler is similar).

I played 5-a-side against James Vince, Mason Crane and Liam Dawson a few weeks ago. Vince in particular is a very good footballer. Not as good as his Hampshire team-mate Keith Barker though.

Which is unsurprising as the latter was a pro at Blackburn, and played football for England up to U20 level!

C B Fry, sportsman, politician, diplomat, academic, teacher, writer, editor and publisher.

Sports wise Fry represented England at both cricket and football, played in an FA Cup Final for Southampton and equalled the world long jump record. He also played rugby for Oxford, Blackheath and the Barbarians and could have played for England. At Oxford, he won 12 blues and captained the university at cricket, soccer and athletics in the same year.

He was offered the vacant throne of Albania.

Born in Croydon, he stood for election in Brighton. Two Brighton & Hove buses (429 and 829) were named "C B Fry" in his honour.

Amazing bloke.
