I'm not a massive fan of the influx of new terms but they serve a purpose I guess.

Wha annoys me, probably irrationally, is the recent policy of international teams being referred to selecao and der mannschaft etc. As far as my limited linguistic skills go doesn't that mean the selection and team?

Why have we suddenly started calling these teams by these apparently random names? Is it something that these teams have been doing for years and years or is it the British trying to sound urbane and cultured by using some foreign lingo only to look like those people who get a kanji tattoo thinking they're getting something deep imprinted on their body only to find out it actually means cat shit?
