I,ve voted "no chance", but would have preferred an "unlikely"choice. I don,t think this will be the clubs fault, but history has shown us that many many obstacles can, and have been put in the way.I see nothing to suggest that there will not be many more problems to overcome in the future.......with the resultant delays.

It didn't take long for Arthur to play the 'I'm entitled to an opinion' card. Ironically it is usually those who say this who do their upmost to prevent others from having theirs!

What Arthur fails to understand is that this is a forum where you post an OPINION in an attempt to INFORM others or have a DEBATE. This is the crux; others may hold contra OPINIONS and then that is where DISCUSSION will take place. During this discussion it became clear that Arthur's OPINION was based on some INCORRECT 'FACTS' that were challengeable backed by EVIDENCE (claims about an unknown request to the National Lottery that was first announced 8 years ago, supposed statements that 'money is in place' that were nevre made etc).

But let's not worry about that as Arthur cannot lose. If the stadium is delayed (I go for probably on time as a poll answer btw) then he can be smug and hurl abuse at those he terms 'PATSIES'. If it is on time, he can attend and melt anonymously into the background whilst giggling to his POSSE.

He can even then lay claim that he has a better view and more valid opinion of the 'BEAUTIFUL GAME' than those who know about planning (apparently it's mutually exclusive dont you know).

It's a no lose situation for Arthur. And if all else fails he can play the OPPRESSED VICTIM as he has done here.

Wrong, Dick Tight sold season tickets for the 1998/99 season at Withdean claiming it would be ready in time.

Ernest is right on this about the delay. The plans were to be there by xmas and in the end it was 6 months later. Problems with Ecovert delayed getting on site until December(stadium construction therefore was as planned but hit by delayed start and a gas main that cause another month of delays).

The roof on the North stand was supposed to be temporary and was also changed to a permanent one as well and Whitbread were threatening a delay by legal challenge.

Can you not read (and you Frutos, I've answered your question on this thread already!)? Where have I said I have evidence about anything?

So you are, by your own admission, basing your opinion on absolutely sod all in the way of facts then (apart from some kind of vendetta against Martin Perry)?

HAHAHA awesome, yes, you've got me, guilty as charged. I'm really a poor precious flower that cares what people think of him on a internet message board!!

I have tried to be nice and prepare you guys for the inevitable fall that is on it's way but you still choose to throw it back at me. So bollocks to the lot of you. Enjoy the next X years at Withdean....I and MANY others certainly won't be there to enjoy them with you.

*sigh* yes that definitely isn't you playing the victim.

you have no evidence to support your point of view. you ask us for evidence. we point you in the direction of people in the know (Martin Perry and his team) and you then dismiss them as having no idea what they're doing. you have absolutely no basis in fact, and no basis for on which to disprove what the experts have said, yet you still maintain this agenda. why?

Thank f*** for that.

The money is still the biggest stumbling block for me, and with all the luck we've had so far, i'm not convinced that even if we do get permission for the various applications that the building will run smoothly and on time. Also, the Withdean lease for 2011 reeks of contingency planning to me.

Just to add to this that the lease on Withdean was also extended as the club will have a fair amount of work to do at Withdean itself to put it back in the state that the council, and whoever else is involved, want it in. It hasn't been extended just because we might need to play there. It allows them to concentrate on Falmer and to then move resource onto Withdean once Falmer is completed.

I voted "maybe" simply because my impression is that contensious construction projects are rarely on time.

However, even if it is one year late, will it really matter? Afterall, we're going to have a beautiful new building to call home.

I have a lot of faith as I worked on Wembley and the Emirates stadium (which was ahead of schedule) Yes it is a big project but the planning that has gone into this will see it open on time.

You lot are funny! Really though, how can you get so wound up? Perhaps you should all get out a bit more. I can just picture you all foaming at the mouth jumping up and down, "right, thats it I'm going to, erm, TYPE something, really angrily".

Al especially, you don't seem to want anyone at Withdean or in your shop!

Surely you don't seriously believe that?

The club would be failing in their duties not to have a contingency to cover Falmer not being ready in time. And the prime contingency is extending the lease on Withdean.

I think the point Mr Arse was making is that the lease was ALWAYS going to run beyond the current planned move-in date for Falmer. If it turns out we still need it for another season then the contingency is covered. If it all goes to plan and we've vacated it as scheduled, then we've got the scheduled lease time available to remove some of the stands, clear the place up, whatever.

Bottom line is, we're COVERED whether Falmer is ready in August 2010 or not.

Imagine this scenario. Season Ticket sales for the first season at Falmer exceed expectations at say 9000. However the safety certificate for the first match is not granted and we have to play our first few matches at Withdean. Where's everyone going to sit?

Cheers Easy, that was the point I was making, albeit badly.

IF that was ever going to be a problem, then I guess there would be a ballot of season ticket holders drawn and the unlucky thousand or so would be compensated.

If it wasn't a serious delay then I guess the Seagulls could arrange for the games to be postponed under extraordinary circumstances!

Point is, Withdean Wanderer would have MOANED if we hadn't put the contingency of an extra year at Withdean in place.

During the weekdays, I definitely don't want anyone in the shop.
