Its a totally different league though. You can say "they've thrown a billion at the club" though except for Chelsea they run at a profit. They are just successful and people dont seem to like that

How ould you rather see us get to that level play or buy?

One is an honourable but, sadly, futile dream, the other is reality.

In the absence of the former, I'll take the latter.

These days success is bought, at whatever level. We won't get any higher without buying (although we might find the odd 'star' who comes through the ranks) and the higher we go, the more we'll have to buy if we want to maintain our status.

Seems that way but our youth has produced some real gems recently.

Buying players will be easier now we have the new stadium only 2 seasons away

The problem with lower division teams producing youth gems is that they will be snapped up by better teams who will pay money we can't refuse.

How many of the team that got us promotion to the top level in 1979 were home-grown?

definately to play, though unfortunately its not really possible anymore

the odd team will still manage to get in the top 4 by playing

I agree with what you're saying, I was just saying Chelsea have bought their way to the title much more than anyone else.

yeah Chelsea spent far more than the other 3

Manure spent least and made most money

Yes it would as long as we build the club up the footballing way!!

The top 4 are only sucessful due to huge amounts of money being thrown at them

As much as i fuckin despise dirty leeds they were the last club to win the premiership who didn't buy it.

I want us to win our way up and not buy it

The chances of us being able to buy success are infintesimal.
Let's just look at our history and get real.....................

The fact is with Ray Bloom's past history with this club, do we really want any member of the Bloom family having anything near overall control of this club?

It depends. Do we stay where we are, treading water or do we take a gamble...

I know what I'd do.

Pass the dice.

Oh your a right ray of sunshine aren't you.

Look at the facts

1. Significant interest since the final go ahead for the stadium
2. A possible £20 million from someone looking to invest
3. Increased revenue as soon as we get into the new stadium
4. This will attract better player which will keep the gates going up

This club is on the way up to the top flight again:thumbsup:

I do understand where you are coming from, but the fact is Ray Bloom is tarnished by the fact he was on the board when the ground was sold and even after he was given his investment back he choose to stay on the board with Archer and Belloti whilst the others walked away.

Everybody goes on about Chelsea and Abramovich but all seem to forget the club with the most wealthy directors who I believe will be the next one to join the big 4, Queens Park Rangers, their combined wealth make Chelsea look like poor cousins.
