Were heading together,
To Withdean its farewell
We're making our come back,
Our new home, we can tell?
I guess there still are three to blame
But were leaving for a new ground
Will things ever be the same again?

Its the Falmer countdown...do do do do, de de de de de, do do do, de de de de de

I remember when we played Coventry at the withers just after they moved into the Ricoh Arena and I was speaking to one of their fans in the Sportsman before the game and he said when he turned up for the forst game, they were still painting inside!!

ok now to just get that put up somewhere, but I still think Aug 7th makes much more sense!

excuse my ignorance, but how can you have a countdown to a date that NOBODY knows is going to be the opener of the stadium?

because the Stadium is supposed to be open by the first day of that season, and looking at the calendar it looks likely to be the 7th of August 2010. So start the countdown lets get excited and can be adjusted if needed later!

I guess thats tongue in cheek, but I'll answer it anyway!
ESF&R can only start once the builders have finished. They'll have to check every fire exit, every exec box, every spinkler head, every hydrant, dry riser, high riser, water main and the water pressures. They'll want to check and re- check access onto the site when empty and when full. They'll want to plan for every scenario from a crowd disaster with trapped people, to a major fire, and co-ordinate plans with police and ambulance. Its not a quick job when you are looking at a multi-use facilty capable of accommodating 22'000 people, and definatley not one that you want to f*** up. It'll be worth it when it is all done. I guess we just all need to be patient and let the finaciers, the builders and the Emerg. Services to their stuff.

Don't they also have to do some sort of practice evacuation as well? Sure I heard about them doing that at the new Wembley?

2 full practice events will take place before the stadium opens for any event as stewards safety officer emergency services etc need to practice all eventualities.

This has already been planned as the Falmer team have a safety consultant working alongside all the relevant parties.

i will go for the 14th of April to just to tease you guys another week ???:lolol:
