Dont worry about the FPC opposition it is no more than a dying person death rattle, that last little croaking sound bnefore they curl up and die.
are we clear that they must meet the costs themselves or do they get public funds to sue the government (not so odd as prisoners, for example, get public money to contest their grievances against the system)?
if they have to pay I reckon they are looking at a minimum £50K for a cause their advisors (the same as Lewes) say is lost. Crazy
And the rest. £250K is more like it. The only public funds they could get is council tax payers money and Lewes have blocked that avenue.
Yorkie,I have just been on line and their is a begging letter in Nov 2005 from Cutress to Lewes dc where it states the most Falmer can raise is £30,000 from the council funds and £50,000 private
How can you have a meeting to decide whether to blow £250K+ of PUBLIC FUNDS fighting the stadium 'in someones house', off the record, unminuted? Cutress & her fellow NIMBY's really are taking the piss. Is there not a local government ombudsman who can step in and sort this lot out? I don't see how such things can be done in public. How can you ban the press from reporting on a PUBLIC meeting?
FPC do not have access to the kind of public funds LDC have already squandered (I gather a small percentage of the Falmer parisheners council tax goes towards FPC, perhaps Lord B could confirm ?). Any challenge launched by FPC will largely have to be funded privately and with pledges from CPRE / Sussex Downsmen. Whether anyone would be prepared to commit the kind of money required to challenge this (and ultimately just get it referred back to the S of S, who could just say YES again) remains to be seen, but they would have to be either incredibly confident or incredibly stupid. How can you have a meeting to decide whether to blow £250K+ of PUBLIC FUNDS fighting the stadium 'in someones house', off the record, unminuted?
