Fallout, Amazon Prime adaptation of the video game series, launches at 2am BST. The full first season (8 episodes) will be available immediately, with a second already commissioned.

As a huge Fallout fan (New Vegas is one of my favourite ever games) I’ve been waiting for this since the announcement in 2020.

The reviews are superb from critics given early access, where it has a 92% rating so far.

I’ve been stung before, but finally writers and producers have turned a corner with video game adaptations.

So excited!

The line between video games and movies can be hard to distinguish these days. CGI on steroids is no replacement for a good story mind, without that it’s a bit all fur coat and no knickers as George Lucus / Disney have demonstrated.

I’ve got quite high hopes for the story. Because the games are so open-ended, there isn’t really a fixed narrative. So they’ve made one from scratch incorporating elements from the games.

It’s written by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, so much pretty stellar names in the field have put this together.

As I say, so excited.

I think it'd be much more in keeping with the spirit of Fallout if, instead of actually showing the programme, they sent a load of messed up nonsense to your house just to see how you react.
