Fabio Capello's Competitive Record As England Manager

Capello is clearly a great coach, but that does not mean that he doesn't make mistakes or should not be open to criticism. For me he has made plenty of errors in this tournament. Having said that, there's no way I'd sack him, as there is clearly no-one better.

I dont see a great deal of difference, our style of play hasnt changed.

As i said though...we will win and play awesome against the Germans. Rooney will come good and we will rock on to the Qtrs v Argentina...god i want to beat them too.

He's been there and done it at club level, and won the lot, but this is the first International tournament he's been a manager in. He's picking up experience as he goes along, and at the end of it all (which hopefully WON'T be on Sunday), he'll be able to look back on this, think about how he's gone about things, perhaps consider if he could or should have done anything differently, and carry that knowledge and experience through to the Euro 2012 tournament.

If we just decide to BIN him because we get knocked out of the World Cup, we are also putting ourselves all the way back to square one again, with a new guy coming in who has to learn the ropes from scratch.

Capello gets a hell of a lot more right than wrong, you can see the players respect him (how can they not with his track record), and regardless of what happens on Sunday, Capello MUST stay on and get us to the next tournament.

Plus what are the options if we sack him? realistically Hodgson, Who has a fine track record with Lower international sides but not a great one when dealing with bigger names.

Point is we were beatng sides with ease, where once we were ****ing up.......at bit like at the beginning of this Cup,

yesterday, was England playing well again againgst a side we should beat week in and out, but last week we could have lost to.

Or rather an authoritarian meanie (i.e. a defender) and probably not imaginative to win the World Cup. Like most teams we have three ostensibly good players; Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, a fair player in James and the others make up the numbers. Most teams are the same. Brazil and Spain might be slightly better, but we should be in the reckoning with about seven other teams.

This World Cup does not seem to have the outstanding players of he past. It is just that Capello cannot seem to bring out the best in our midfield. Respect does not win trophies.

I don't think Cappello has done much wrong. Take away Green's mistake, we win the group and we then have a path to the semis that avoids the big boys. That gives us the best shot of winning the thing for 20 years.

I'd be interested to know whether his instructions in the last 20 minutes were to shut up shop or to go for the goal. By putting on Joe Cole for Rooney, instead of, say, Carrick it implies the latter.

I hear what your saying, and his track record would suggest he deserves another major tournament.

How would you have reacted had we not gone through yesterday ? Which less face it, was a very fine margin, its all fine margins at that level.

There would have been no way he could have stayed in my opinion.... managers jobs are often dedided on the result of 90mins football.
Wether thats right or wrong is another thing.

I do to, not because of football, but because of press intrusion. He has already lost it with them before, and no doubt will again. The media circus stopped us getting Scholari, builds everyone up, so they knock them down even faster, and will probably get rid of Capello, just like they tried to do us out of World Cup 2018
