Now the press are celebrating victorious England over a team ranked 25 in the World and consisted of us taking the ball to the corner flags for the last 5 minutes. HEROES

You missed out the bit where we absolutely battered them for the first 65 mins and, if they had had the German keeper in goal (ie a worse keeper) it would've been 3 or 4-0.

CHIN UP BRUNO.

I hear what your saying, and his track record would suggest he deserves another major tournament.

How would you have reacted had we not gone through yesterday ? Which less face it, was a very fine margin, its all fine margins at that level.

There would have been no way he could have stayed in my opinion.... managers jobs are often dedided on the result of 90mins football.
Wether thats right or wrong is another thing.

I still honestly believe he will resign after the World Cup.

If we'd not gone through yesterday, then I would have reacted like everyone else - by hurling my pint glass at the wall and storming out to go and bend some car aerials.

Once I'd calmed down a bit though, I'd still want Capello as manager. We can't just keep on sacking managers because they fail to WIN these tournaments, that just sets an impossibly high bar. Capello has brought us out from the wreckage of the McLaren era and has restored / instilled some belief in our players. I like him, I like his methods, I trust him, and I still believe he is the man who gives us our BEST chance of success at this level.

He won't resign either.

Chin is up, I think Capello is great. Just didnt like the over the top reaction from the players celebrating as if we had won 4-0 against Brazil, and the media over hyping them as heroes again, for beating a team 25th in the World.

Also a battering? they had just as many shots as us on goal.

Fair enough Easy, i just dont want it to drag on like the Sven thing did...we all know he had one tournament to many. We wont have learnt anything if thats the case.

I cant get the Sven era out of my mind clearly...i think his years have destroyed my view on England foreever, i desperately need Capello to re address that !

You don't think it might have been more because, despite starting with two draws, and regardless of the opposition, we had just managed to progress to the next stage of a very prestigious football competition, which, to play in is considered the pinnacle of a footballer's career, do you?

Hey? One thing you cannot deny is that England did indeed out-class Slovenia - They had one chance and missed - we had 5 glorius chances... We did indeed deserve a 3-0 win.

Plus just a point but bar one flukey goal from 1 bad mistake we haven't conceded in the WC so far and have defended well. Algeria had 0 chances, The US had 1 chance, Slovenia had 1 chance... Shame the Germans have only conceded 1 too...

I do agree to an extent, but it;s the over the topness of it all which gets my goat, We are either brilliant or shithouse. No in between. We played against teams ranked 14th, 25th and 30th in the World, finished SECOND and now the press are making it sound like some unbelievable achievement. Remember the group was dubbed

England
Algeria
Slovenia

If their goalie hadn't played out of his skin, we would've won comfortably (we did win comfortably, but I mean by goals scored). James had almost nothing to deal with all day.

I agree, we qualified from possibly the easiest European Qual Group and then have scraped through in the Easiest World Cup Group.

I for one am not getting carried away, although i know there are a few great performance bursting to get out though

I think the next 2 weeks will be the most memorable of my life.
WE WILL WIN THE WORLD CUP BY BEATING ALL THE TOP SIDES.
