Bit of variety needed perhaps ?
Gentlemen ? Chaps ? :lolol:
Good question. I don't know ('chaps' sounds a bit old time RAF and Biggles though, so probably not that), but no, I haven't got any suggestions. Bearing in mind the wages involved in PL football, 'you lucky buggers' would be appropriate, but I don't suppose it'd go down well.......................................
What do other managers say? - no idea there either - I don't spend much time watching other teams'/managers' dressing room fly-on-the-wall videos!
But sorry, 'guys' still gets on my wick!

He should use his own beautiful language.

“Jungs” = “lads”
“Meine lieben Kerle” = “my lovely boys”, if he wants a slightly Windsor Davies vibe
“Verdammt nochmal, seid Ihr schon wieder scheisse” = useful on Saturday at 5pm when we still haven’t beaten Fulham

Irrational and unreasonable, I know, but 'Guys', guys ....... and more 'guys' still grates for me!

Apart from that he's doing OK, I think.
I don't like to see you suffer, but face it, this is part of the process.

Guys is a bit American for a football manager in England. I think "lads" is the standard gaffer term. You wouldn't catch Harry Rednap or Big Sam saying "guys."
Here is some facts that may help you accommodate our leader's idiosyncratic Gebrauch der Sprache
Fabby was born in Houston, Texas, to a Swiss father and a German mother while they were working in the United States.

Forest was a Freak result.
But defensive lapses, where goals were given away cheaply wasn't.

We had concede 2 goals within 10 minutes of each other in 3consecutive games prior to those wins .
It would have been 4 if not for a fortuitous VAR call against Southampton.
This was following on from throwing away points against Wolves, with 2 goals in 4 minutes.

We headed the table of points lost from winning positions and it was a real problem.
Fabs decision to throw caution to the wind and experiment against Forest, was insane.

I am over the moon with the defensive displays since Forest, because it was a massive gap in the way we were playing.
But pretending that the issue was that we weren't trusting the process enough, is a little misplaced, IMO.
See I always thought the 'process' was one of experimentation, to find out about everyone in his squad (Enciso got a little run of starts for example), to try different tactics and in game shifts, to attempt different ways of countering opposition strategies, and work out this premier league lark. Now we're on the run in he's sticking with what he reckons works the best.

That's reasonable.

Alongside the experimentation there was also a huge learning curve for Fab himself.
He has had the best squad he has ever coached at his disposal.
In his career to date, he has been able to be very innovative with lesser players, and had a decent amount of success with it.

I think Forest was an experimentation too far.
He misjudged how far his tactical innovation and the quality of our squad could be pushed.
He acknowledged that and the players have also put their hands up, on where they haven't been at the necessary level.

With hindsight, I think it was probably a necessary event and the outcome of it has been very impressive.

He's young - he's learning, he's made mistakes and who really knows the story (if there is one) behind the Ferguson issue.

Hopefully he's learnt that you can't play one central midfielder on their own, especially when said midfielder is 19 and was coming back from a long injury.

Certainly didn't look like he's lost the dressing room in that video from the Newcastle dressing room.
He was just about getting away with it with Baleba, as Baleba is a freak of nature. But he’d been doing this all season and showing no desire to change.

The Forest result seems to have been such a gut punch that he’s had to learn. We’ve been much, much better since.

It turns out that sometimes getting battered 7-0 is required to lessen the ego of the manager, which is clearly part of the process. I’m glad it happened in hindsight, and long may this more mature manager continue.

One of the things that stuck me when listening to Daniel Niedzkowski's podcast appearance was that he said Fab was obsessed with football and always keen to try new ideas and new approaches to games. I'm not sure if the Forest game was anything to do with that, but he is clearly learning because he's relatively inexperienced. But that game will be a reminder to, like you say, not take things too far too quickly!

The way this season has played out reminded me of when someone said that with RDZ (don't think it was the man himself, although it could've been), expect to lose as many games as they win (or something like that).
