Let’s hope all the excitement and best wishes from fans translate into him being given a bit of time.

We’ve had arguably the best 3 seasons in the club’s history, and he’ll have no experience of the spotlight and pressure cooker environment of the PL. We’re going to need a bit of patience I feel.

Clearly we will. I'm still looking forward to the season where we have a good, settled, experienced squad with a good, settled manager. Would love to see what we could do. Thought next year might be the year, but will be more development now. Not to say that's not fun either.

Let’s hope so. Iraola had a shocking start for Bournemouth, not winning and losing 6 of their first 9 games. New managers sometimes need a bit of time, but the pressure can really pile on if you don’t start well.

St. Pauli is, spiritually I felt, something of a sister club, especially during the Falmer for All era - and we did something of a Chelsea on them.

But only a bit bad. They're in 1.Bundesliga now, and we're in the EPL now, and business is business.

We approached them for their manager-After the season was over, but before transfer window was open, pre season a month away, we havent taken (yet) their player of the season, half the technical structre, havent taken his assistants, or long estrablished club coaches, or the club legend, and we havent done all of that 3 weeks into a new season, and then we havent come back for the ones we left behind

There is simply no comparison with what Chelsea did, and tried to do.

Spot on. Absolutely miles apart in scenario. We have done it about as amicably as you could do. Are we only allowed to go after unemployed coaches?

So, now we’ve got our man, there needs to be a bit of understanding. While things may be (and hopefully are) brilliant from the off, his previous job started after he’d already been embedded in the team as assistant manager, and had pre-existing relationships with the coaching staff and players.

Now he’s moved country, it sounds like he won’t necessarily be bringing all (or even any) of his existing coaching team with him, and he has no pre-existing relationships with players or the coaches who are already here.

He’s obviously ambitious and has a clear picture of how he wants his team to play, but we’ve got to allow him some time to find his feet, and not be straight on his back if we don’t get the immediate start to the season we want.

Anyone who’s moved abroad for work knows that the first months can feel isolating and tough, being away from family and friends. I admire him already for believing in himself and feeling he’s ready to be tested at this level, but until he’s here and coaching with a team in place, we’ve got no idea how quickly/easily he’s going to be able to get his ideas across and working. Let’s make sure he knows we’re with him in the early weeks of the season.

TLDR - he’s young, this will be his first time living in the UK, he’s going to be in an unfamiliar setup, let’s make sure he knows he’s supported.

I'm projecting, right? If I'd delivered a baby to term, I'd want to raise it at least until s/he reached school age. Well, I suppose I could come up with a better analogy, lol. Just speaking as a project manager, it bothers me seeing people biting off more than they can chew after having a bit of success.

Unless he's a true prodigy, I have my reservations. Thank you for letting me have them!

If we expect to finish 16th, which would be just about acceptable given the circumstances, anything else will be a bonus.

To be honest, the club are so good at turning a disappointing departure into an opportunity to upgrade, that I am half expecting a top 4 finish and winning the F.A. Cup.
I jest a little, but with other managerial changes that may not work out so well, possible points deductions for some clubs, with a good transfer window for us, the stars might just be aligned.

He is going to need time and patience. With a few quality additions, he has the nucleus of a very good side to play with. He also has a pre-season which is always beneficial to a new coach rather than joining mid season like RDZ! Our form will likely to be up and down but hopefully we will have the quality in the team to maintain a respectable midtable position in his first year. He's no more of a risk than Martin or McKenna in my eyes!

I'm going to try and change my mindset a little bit next season. Stop fixating quite so much on league position and cup runs and simply enjoy each game on its own merits. We have an exciting young manager who will gradually get to grips with the job and we all need to be patient, as there are bound to be missteps along the way. I know we can be hot-headed and unreasonable at times but on the whole I think the BHA crowd are more understanding than many others in the PL.
