Astley, Manchester
I voted "out" immediately after the game, but on reflection I don't think getting rid of him right now would do us much good.

I've pretty much lost my faith that FH is the man to lead these players, though. The Palace, Everton, and Forest games have sealed that for me. Either he's not getting his ideas across to the players, or he is and these dreadful performances are the result. I hope and expect Barber and Bloom are making discreet enquiries with managers who might be interested in joining in the summer.

I think it'd take a top-six finish to change my mind about the manager being a dud.
With you on this. Good replacement options may be available in the summer but not now. Plus give Fab time. He may turn things around but my guess is that we’ll slip down the table as he’s lost the players.
As I’ve said on another thread I’d be looking at Liam Rosenior. Did a great assistant job at Derby, good season at hull and then very harshly sacked and now moulding a team of youngsters at Strasbourg with decent results. Clever guy with real leadership qualities. Who will ever forget his post Sheffield Wednesday gestures to fans. Plus I think he’d jump at the opportunity.

If I were Tony (and who’s to say I’m not?), I’d be on the blower to Jurgen Klopp and offering him a mentoring role with young Fabian.

Not working with players everyday, or doing endless media or travelling to matches and all the other stuff that he had plainly had enough of. But being a mentor and a sounding-board for Fab - perhaps just a few days a month, supporting him, guiding him, coaching him.

It might be the sort of offer that satisfies his desire to still be involved in top flight football, but without having to immerse himself in the day-to-day non-stop grind of being a Head Coach.

I doubt there are many scenarios that Fab is facing that Klopp won’t have encountered at some point in his career - plus he seems to possess many of the qualities that would make him an excellent mentor.
TB and PB have already appointed a mentor for Fab.

It's Daniel Niedzkowski, who joined us last month from the German FA, where he was Head of the German Football Association's (DFB) coaches training programme.

Gone well so far, from 2-1 win against Bournemouth to 7-0 loss against Forest, fantastic progress.

I don’t think he is anywhere near as bad as is being made out on here but I did fear for him when saw Saturdays line up as it looked very bold and if (as it did) went wrong it would pile pressure on him. If the result had been the same but he had started two midfielders we would all be saying he has put out the best side he could and would be talking about the players.

He has put himself under unnecessary pressure and needs to learn from that and quickly to win fans back over but too early to be writing him off IMO.

He needs a period of a settled 11 without injuries and some big players to look at themselves in the mirror and improve their own performances and think we can start to climb the table again

Yeah that’s exactly how it works.

When did so many on this board become knuckle draggers?
Well what are we improving? How are we in anyway getting better, we have got significantly worse this season. I suppose its being a knuckle dragger for thinking a 7-0 loss is bad where we devoid of anything. It is crap. We'll see in 3 games if its got any better, if we can't win any of those, might as well write off the season.

If I knew Liam Rosenior was ready to come in, I'd be very tempted.

It’s almost as if a month (which also saw 3 back to back wins) isn’t long enough to assess the impact of a back room staff hire.

Obviously 7-0 sucks. It was an awful performance, no sugar coating it but some of the stuff on here is outstandingly dumb.

Lets see if it improves in the next three games, if we don't win any of them, I will be seriously concerned.

Well, he joined in January - so maybe you could argue that the excellent results against Arsenal, Norwich, Ipswich and United were down to him (?)
And then we've seriously regressed in the following two games, the two worst performances of the season. You need to build on these good results, we have not built on them at all.

At last! The voice of reason. We really are sounding like a bunch of entitled idiots. We are TENTH in the Premier League FFS. It's embarrassing losing 7-0, but there were loads of factors at play. We as fans will focus on the here and now, but luckily guys like Bloom and Barber are focussing on the next 5 years (or longer). Sometimes when you take long term decisions the short term isn't great. If Fab doesn't pull through, then I have absolute confidence that the Board will make the right decisions in the long term interests of the club.
Fab was asked post match yesterday, with the benefit of hindsight would you have set up differently. He said no...

I’m as annoyed as anyone about saturday… but 9 players currently out injured, constant forced line up changes, individual player mistakes costing us & the investment in the defence (which we need more of) is injured. Yes he’s made some tactical mistakes, but that was always going to happen with a young manager learning the league. Still very much in the we must give him time camp. Lots of good managers have had rocky starts at their club. At the end of the season we can review, but half way through his first season & sitting comfortably in mid table, sacking him now would seem incredibly harsh. Other managers looking on would definitely then think twice about joining us.

I'm thinking out loud with this but I wonder if the dropping of Minteh and mysterious missing midfield on Saturday are down to Daniel the mentor telling Fab he needs to be stricter/tougher with the players?

Good thing we gave a young manager with a lot to learn, the biggest spend possible.

Brighton factually.....
I am all for giving him time if he has the players behind him, believing in the "process"
If they are not or there is unrest, it does not matter what I think, if the likes of someone like Welbeck goes to TB or PBOBE and voices his concerns then he is gone.

I'm neither in nor out. I'm completely ambivalent towards the manager. The last two games have been shit and we haven't played a good full 90 minutes. On the other hand, we were looking in great shape before Christmas having beaten Man City and coming from 2 goals down to beat Spurs. We're also mid-table in the top flight, so whilst it is all very disappointing, it's clearly not disastrous.

I think the biggest problem for me is that FH seems to have picked a side with no midfield against Forest just to prove a point. No thought for the 3,000 who travelled then. Perhaps if they'd been told his plan was to throw the game to "resolve" an internal squabble, they might have found something better to do. Perhaps the manager and the players won't mind just knuckling down and doing their jobs for the rest of the season eh? If we lose on Saturday, the season's over anyway.

As for Fab, and calling for his head after barely half a season: there are some right drips on here who seem to cry after 2 bad results. Absolutely pathetic.
