Yes it was tighter than I thought, but was still offside as my instinct said. You would not have moaned if it was the other way round that United had the goal disallowed.

I think people do realise that, yes. There are plenty though that feel the natural tolerance that came from making the decision with the naked eye was much more in keeping with the intention of the law.

The linesman didn't - but assume you knew better sitting on your sofa? The players were dead level - so of course they gave it as offside rather than going with the on-field decision. The technology simply isn't there to tell them the precise micro-second the ball was played or the precise location of each player's anatomy. It's utter horsesh*t.

And don't forget the law was changed to say you were onside if you were in line. Now VAR with it's ridiculous microscopic examination will effectively undo that.
