I live in Chichester and it's a nightmare to get back to for a game that late.

I've ended up stranded at Barnham a few times over the last few seasons.
I feel for you - I had to fork out £70 for a taxi last night to get home after the Ipswich match because I missed the last connecting train from Norwich to Ely which left at 22.30!

I’ve have just booked into a hotel in Brighton for one night for the Chelsea League match on the 14th Feb but because it’s on a Friday that means I can get home Saturday rather than going for the cup match which would mean trying to travel on a Sunday which is a nightmare at the Norfolk end. Expensive option when there’s only one of you though.

£70 last night for the taxi + £16 train fares and £32 match ticket - Ipswich
£102 hotel + £65 train fares and + £62 match ticket for Chelsea
£65 trainfare + £60 taxis + £65 match ticket for Everton

That’s around £540 quid spent this month to pay for 1 away match and 2 home matches - that doesn’t even include Norwich or any matches I’ll be going to for the rest of the season 😳

Got similar problem but it's other half's birthday, even more tricky.
Tell her you won’t go to the other Chelsea match because it’s Valentine’s Day and you want to take her out for dinner :lolol:

The good thing about being married for 35 years is the last thing you would do is go out for dinner on 14th Feb. However, a few Valentine's deals from Waitrose and M&S means you eat well all week

…………..unless you happened to meet on Valentines Day in 1983 and it’s apparently your ‘real anniversary’ (yet somehow me forgetting our ‘actual’ anniversary is still an issue 🤷‍♂️)

yes, of course I’m going to the game 🤣

A friend of mine married her husband on his 40th birthday (after being together years and having 2 kids), so that he couldn't forget their anniversary.

He did

Wish they’d hurry up and sort it. It’s my 60th birthday that weekend and I’m getting grief from ‘er indoors trying to organise it. Naturally I won’t commit to anything until I know when the match is going to be.
I have a similar dilemma. I have about 40 people coming to celebrate my 60th birthday on 1st Feb. About half of them are traveling interstate and staying in hotels, and one is from the UK. Only two of us follow football I am of course Albion he is Forest. Kick off is 11:30pm. I have a choice ignore the match, put in on the TV and piss people off or wind the party down before 11:30. My head tells me the answer is simple,, my heart however could get me into a lot of trouble

You're in Oz, it has to be a BBQ, you're halfway there.

Put a TV in an out of the way room somewhere. Start the party early, set a really stunning fast pace and give everybody HUGE measures. Then sneak off with your forest supporting mate at 11.30 if you still remember

2 more STH here not bothering with that. Was looking forward to the game but with a long journey home, not with that kick off time. Shame.

How terrible playing Chelsea twice. 15 years ago we would have loved to. I will go to both and hope for 2 wins like most people.
Well done you, give yourself a pat on the back.

Of course drawing a big PL club in the cup 15 years ago was exciting, a 4th round cup tie against another PL club that we have played every season since 2017 isn’t
