Nope. The question was "when did they stop making goalposts out of wood?" the answer was "they still do".

Regardless of whether they are made out of steel, aluminium or wood. The expression hit the woodwork is the only one with any value, as hit the aluminium doesn't have the same ring to it.

I can assure you they were wooden! There's a photo of it on the front of "more than 90 minutes.

The ones infront of the North Stand which I was leaning on after the game had been abandoned were definitely metal 100% no question. As I also said earlier, the goal-posts that the club ordered as replacements were also metal.

Albion & England forever.

Indeed. This whole fiasco stemmed from someone innocently asking when they stopped making them out of wood, and has now descended into one person refusing to accept a simple mistake about the Wembley goals and making a much bigger fool of himself than needed!

Putting it all in one place (minus some of the less salient posts)

When was the woodwork last actually made of wood?

It is made of wood, hence when a goal keeper hangs from it, it bends then bends back.

Goalposts are not made from wood...:lolol:

 I can assure you they are

They were definitely wooden not so far back - York City (h) 1996.

"3G Aluminium Stadium Football Goal is a uniquely designed goal as used at top level venues including Wembley, The Emirates Stadium, Millenium Stadium, Croke Park and a host of Premier League, Championship and League clubs. Manufactured from aluminium and features fully welded corner joints for greatly improved strength and aesthetic appearance"

:dunce::dunce::dunce:

I can assure you, they are NOT.

Well f*** you cos the withdean ones are and the Goldstone ones were.

So you think that the fact that you can get aluminum goal posts proves that no goalposts anywhere are wooden? Jeez.

The goalposts at the withers are made out of metal. FACT.

ALL GOALPOSTS ARE METAL!!!

You were clearly saying the Wembley ones were wooden though. Just accept the mistake and move on before making a bigger fool of yourself

hard to tell [with attachment of image from goldstone]

They were metal!...So were the replacements that were ordered and delivered the following Saturday and were left hanging around outside the Goldstone whilst we awaited the coach for the Walsall away game.
