It’s amazing how quickly the kids pick up on abusing the away fans without any prompting whatsoever.

Six is fine, but be prepared that they may struggle to retain an interest in the game itself - certainly not for two sustained periods of 45 minutes.

So arm yourself with snacks (sweets, crisps or whatever hits the spot) and a device loaded with favourite shows/films. You might not need to use it, but it's there just in case.

And if you intend to buy a bottled drink, even water, it wouldn't be the worst idea to accidentally find a bottle top in your pocket...

I haven't bought a soft drink at the Amex for a few months, how are they dealing with Coke bottles since the caps were made 'non-removable' for recycling purposes...?

taking mine and she’s 7, took my son to his 1st game vs derby in the cup and he was 6, but about 65 mins in he did get a little fidgety so gave him my phone by time he was 8 he was absolutely hooked

I took my son to his first game at 3, by six he had a season ticket. And this was at Withdean. He had a spell when frankly we were rubbish where he was less interested but now a die hard fan. Similar with my daughter. I don't think you can judge by age really, judge by the child you know. And as Bozza said in the early days sweets are essential. And possible ear muffs/defenders.

I always book aisle seats, you’re not hemmed in, all you have to do is swing your legs to one side to let people pass, no need to stand up. Season tickets have always been aisle seats. Hate being hemmed in at the opposite end of a row or in the middle. Aisle seats are the dogs (not the Isle of Dogs though, rough as)

Deliberately chose mid-block to avoid the weak-bladdered and those that would rather miss some of the game because they haven’t been able to eat/drink for 40 minutes. Never rush off at the end anyway so happy to wait for the stairs to clear.

At Withdean in the Russell Slade era, the stewards allowed us to do a swap of our kids at half time!

My 4 year old daughter only went for the ice cream and was bored by HT, so my wife brought my Albion-loving son to the SS gates.

This is genuinely the best thing I've heard for ages. I actually think it has some legs, other than the logistics of two sets of parents getting there separately. Maybe all go together, first half one plays in Stamner Park and then reverse. It needs Clearly would not fit the clubs stance of non-transferrable though!
