I was in the crowd that cheered when Schumacher went into the tyres and broke his leg (and he never moaned about it either). Max got respect from the crowd today when he went to the medical car which is more than most have previously got. He will live to regret that message I am sure.

Horner should be calming him down not winding him up. Ginger spice needs to give him one off the wrist to make him come to his senses again.

He really is your proper spoilt entitled enfant terrible. Some of the moves he’s pulled, he’s known throughout the paddock as being dangerous and not someone to mess with. Well, he can’t bully a 7 time world champion and expect just to take the line he thinks he’s entitled to.

It was hard racing, something MV had said he likes time after time. I don’t remember him tempering his celebrations after he forced Leclerc off the road.

Red Bull really feeling the pressure, you need calm heads or it all ends up like Ferrari and Vettel 2017&18.

We’ve seen incidents like that through the ages of F1 when 2 title rivals go toe to toe. Max had the faster car and a huge points lead, LH was faster that first lap and was alongside and not going to yield - every world champion needs a touch of the Prost Professor and work out that second after 2 laps was never going to be a bad result - the only bad result was going to be contact that he could have avoided.

Horner on his high horse always amuses me. Given this was a bloke who was having an affair while his wife was pregnant with a spice girl and has consistently got it wrong when his drivers are racing each other (ver/ric and seb/webber) its not hard to pick holes when he pretends his shit doesn't stink.

I thought his comments about any driver who has driven these corners etc as if he has ever driven an F1 car there were pathetic.
If Max got a'10 second penalty, he would claim it harsh but wanted a ban for Lewis.
He has lost my respect.

Max is no angel, to me it was a racing incident they both could have avoided, harsh to give a penalty. On the flip side Max will be penalised if he try’s his strong arm tactics which he’s got away with in the past.

Ham made a rash move, sticking his nose in when he wasn't going to grt through, but he was rightly penalised and we move on. Brilliant race. It sets up it nicely for some feisty races

Worth looking out for the excellent summary from Chandhok if you can catch it. Have to remember C4s Coultard and Webster both ex-RedBull boys, both still do stuff for RB - never going to criticise their ex-team.

Chandhok pointed out however what many on this thread have said; Max’s first lap was a mess, he went off early leaving the track, should have conceded the place but didn’t came back on and bumped LH, but normal rules don’t apply to MV (my opinion not Chandhok’s). From there MV’s lines were all over the place, basically driving by his mirrors to LH rather than the track, and so it came to Copse, he started wide but moved to the centre as he realised LH had far more pace, a really late move - a line no one takes into Copse, he then turns in knowing LH will be there as if he has a divine right to the line he wants.

I’m not saying LH is innocent, it looked like he did have some understeer, but MV could have stayed on wider line through the turn.

My son was a massive F1 fan. He was granted a make-a-wish experience in 2018. He chose Silverstone Grand Prix, and after Qualifying (and the Sweden game) we got to spend some time with Lewis. Whatever you may choose to say about him as a racing driver, I can 100% say the man is a true gent and very genuine. He spent 10 minutes with my son, despite race day the following day, chatting to my lad about stuff, mainly racing and football, and showed us his car in the garage. He did the same with 2 other children, as did Bottas and Toto. They have been doing this for years.

Sadly, my son died a year later, but that was one of the highlights of his life. The make-a-wish foundation cannot say enough good stuff about Lewis Hamilton, other than he doesn't want any publicity about this, and he personally requests that these meetings he has are not publicised. Which until this comment I have respected. When I hear people taking a pop at the man, it riles me a little. Have a pop at the driver if you have legitimate opinion by all means, but not the man.

Twice this season on the opening lap Max has thrown it up the inside and given Hamilton a 'yield or we crash' decision and Lewis being the experienced driver has backed out of it with the aim of playing the long game. This works when you have the faster car but that not looking the case at the moment. Lewis now knows that to win the title this season in a slower car, he has to play as hard as Max and call his bluff or essentially he is conceding the title.

If nothing else we should have a cracking back half to the season. Max and Red Bull should still win both titles but only if they keep their heads. Will we see a return to young, reckless Max or has he matured enough to put the incident behind him, play the long game and win the title? Either way it's reinvigorated what was in danger of become a procession at the top.

Given the outbursts from Max and Horner, which were bordering on entitled childlike behaviour it’s interesting that one of the youngest drivers, LeClerc, and one of the oldest, Alonso, both said it was a racing incident.

Hamilton’s comments about having backed off a number of times this season but was not going to be bullied when he had a chance yesterday were refreshing, Max may think twice before being so aggressive against LH next time, it’s still Max’s title to lose. He needs to use his brain more whilst he is still leading the championship
