Personally always supported the British lads in whatever team they were in. Mansell my first hero, always rooted for Herbert, Brundle, then delighted when Hill got his title, Button got his. Great to have Hamilton, Lando and Russell in this field, always going to get behind them whether in a Merc, Haas, Red Bull or whatever. Always supported my national drivers rather than a team. Obviously some people have issues getting behind ‘one of their own’ - don’t get it myself.

Do you think it good for the sport for a team/driver to win 8 world championships, it is like Man City winning 8 Premier League titles, 7 in consecutive years?

It's so boring and money-driven, as Albion fans I am sure you must get this???

Would you be Lewis fans if he was driving for Haas?

I’ve always supported ANY British driver because it’s in my blood and I love my country so of course I’d support Lewis in a Haas. It’s part of being patriotic.

But once Lewis has his 8th title and is the undisputed GOAT on every stat, I certainly won’t be unhappy to see Russell take his crown as Britain’s best. If both are smashing that obnoxious twunt Max, all the better.

“F1 title leader Max Verstappen's front-row starting position at the Qatar GP is under threat after he was summoned to meet with F1 stewards ahead of Sunday's race for allegedly failing to slow for yellow flags on his final lap of qualifying.

The Red Bull driver, who leads the championship by 14 points, qualified second behind a dominant Lewis Hamilton but will now head to see the stewards at 10am UK time. The race is at 2pm.”

I don’t understand what explanation he could give? Why hasn’t he been punished already?

I suppose the stewards will let him off with a warning so as to keep the drama of Hamilton/Verstappen starting 1 & 2 intact?

What's wrong with Lando?

Smashing lad and can handle a car.

So are your more of a Merc man?

Surely even the Lewis fans would prefer Max on pole and lewis in second?

:

Mental.

Most neutrals will want a combination of results in this race that takes the championship to the wire- which means Lewis on pole.

The assumption being the Merc will continue to be the faster package than the McClaren next season I would have thought. As when Hamilton won a title in a McClaren, would be a double delight if a British driver starts dominating again in a British team, Lando is a smashing lad some fingers crossed McClaren pull something out of the hat with the new rules.

Of course I like Lando but I generally concentrate on the driver most likely to win a race or title. Hopefully McLaren will have a title challenging car for him next season.

I’m not really that bothered by what team a British driver drives for. I loved watching Mansell in a Ferrari and will follow Lewis in the red should he end up there after Mercedes.

I liked Hill and Coulthard when I was a kid, like Hamilton from the start as he was so young, fresh and exciting, especially after years without a British challenger. Always had a soft spot for Paul Di Resta and thought he was a bit unlucky to lose his drive at the time. Am really excited for the future and will support George and Lando once Lewis retires. Do you think we would be Albion fans if we just supported the best/most successful option?

Don't try to divert the conversation beyond your bias/hatred of Lewis Hamilton and pretend that you have the best interests of the sport at heart.

Max in with the stewards tomorrow morning then?

Must be heading for a penalty- can’t remember anyone successfully defending themselves when they’ve ignored yellow flags. He can’t have slowed down he set a PB on that lap.

Move him back 5 grid spots that will at least reduce the chance of him smashing into LH at the first corner..

Not sure what the result is of the additional tests carried out in Merc’s rear wing post quali? [emoji2369]

Nah, what I mean is, Hamilton, can overtake a grid full of cars so passing Max on track would be more exciting and fulfilling for everyone......wouldn't it?

It will still go to the wire.

I agree, Lando winning some races in a Mclaren would be very special.

See I differ here, although I followed Bobby Zamora's progress when he left us, I always put the team first Albion are my no1, I think Bobby is the only player that has ever held my real interest elsewhere.
When Mansell left Williams for Ferrari I lost interest in Mansell, until he went to Mclaren.

British Driver in a British Car has always been my thing.

So you must still have the framed posters up of Hamilton’s first title.:clap:

What’s ironic about the yellow flag incident is it was an Alpha Tauri which caused it, slap on the wrist for them

You really did spoil it with this last line.

I was a Button fan because he is a true gent and a decent racing car driver in a British car, what's wrong with that?

No, because I was a Button fan.

I suppose it was Oasis or Blur, Stones or Beatles thing.

I did have a great poster of James Hunt and Barry Sheene, double world champions in 76 though.

I would pay big bucks to get that back, I think my parents binned it after I left home......gutted.

So in your previous post you said you’d get behind a British driver in a British car. Hamilton was in a McClaren when he won his first title in 2008, Button was in a Honda. So maybe you don’t always practice what you preach unless it suits you?

Are you judge rinder by chance???

I was also a Coulthard fan too, why does this bother you so much?

I love the sport and most that are involved in it, I don't see your issue.

Let's just look forward to some controversy tomorrow to spice up the race eh?

It doesn’t. You make all your comments about Hamilton etc. You replied to me only half hour ago with this:

When I said you must have Hamilton’s first title posters on your walls then, you said you supported Button, who was of course in a Honda.

2007 to 2009 the only British driver in a British team was Lewis Hamilton, fair to assume you supported him in that period given your quoted statement.

You seem a bit touchy about it?

Me touchy....excuse me sir, no touchy, touchy here thanks.

I generally do, that is my default position, there are many reasons why I chose not to like Lewis Hamilton's persona, and brattish behavior but the armchair fan won't get that, to be fair he has matured of late bit.

Back on track, name the podium tomorrow.

1.Hamilton
2.Bottas
3.??? I am going for Gasly
