I concur, have never owned an Escort, its a special world. . Old Ford world is littered with everything I dislike.

When I mentioned Mexico's I was thinking of this . . . . And they did some other similar races I think.

Great clip, thanks for that.

Graham Hill with classic commentary 'I would chop him off' and 'Jack has never used his mirrors before'! :lolol:

Suspensions looked soft, but looked like it was a lot of fun.
Last laugh for Jack and John then, cruel sport.

If only the Merc could have some reliability issues. The s**T would hit the fan then.

The MExico Challenge was bog standard cars, a friend ( now in his mid 70's) told me they used to bend the leaf springs in a press and compress the coils to try and lower the cars a bit, all got very competitive. As you say, a cracking bit of footage.

These are brilliant videos too ,

Perez now signed to Red Bull which is good news.. I don’t think that Perez will be in the shadow of Verstappen like most of Red Bulls no 2’s. Hopefully he’ll fight at the front more than Albon.

Well done to Red Bull. It would have been awful to see someone as good as Perez without a drive while a complete joker like Albon continued.

Perez is a better driver, but that's never been the reason or guarantee anyone gets a drive . . . Perez himself got his early drives due to funding. Stroll would probably be a UPS driver if it wasn't for Daddys cheque book.

That should at least give Mercedes something to worry about rather than just Max fighting a lone battle against them both.

I do feel for Alex as he is a lovely bloke, never heard a bad word said about him, but unfortunately the performances just haven’t been there. Verstappen is a seriously formidable team mate so I’m really excited to see how Perez will do against him. Hopefully Perez is strong enough mentally compared to all the young lads that come into the team and seem to get ground into the dirt by Verstappens speed.

Not the end for Albon I’m sure.

Check out the Sakhir GP when Croft was absolutely screaming about Albon passing Norris (who had old tyres on) and literally a lap later barely even mentioned Perez passing Albon. We all know who went on to win.

Still not sure how Croft lucked in to that job, the number of cock ups he makes each race you can almost hear Martin Brundle's eyes rolling.

Verstappen is considered one of the very best, not reasonable to expect Albon to be that close to him is it? He should be compared to the next best driver in a poorer car.

Albon is clearly not as good as Verstappen. But to be fair to Albon that Red Bull this year was completely tailored to Verstappen in the way it handled. So much that RB have admitted they got some of it wrong and the rear end was unstable. Verstappen could tame it (eventually. Even he struggled with it early season) because his style was more closely suited to what the car wanted.

I suspect even Perez might be in for a rude surprise if RB can't solve the rear end aero stalling problem they had this year.

And this is the only reason the media hasn’t been calling out his woeful performances as much as they should.

I’ve posted on here before about my annoyance with the blatant bias of Sky towards certain drivers and dismissal of others. As Albon talks to and jokes with their pundits, they love him and won’t say a bad word. See also: Ricciardo, Norris and in previous years Button. But last year they couldn’t wait to stick the knife into Gasly in that same Red Bull car.

Check out the Sakhir GP when Croft was absolutely screaming about Albon passing Norris (who had old tyres on) and literally a lap later barely even mentioned Perez passing Albon. We all know who went on to win.

Yeah, but I guess in some ways it’s natural that more approachable drivers are more well liked and thus commentators make more of an effort to include popular drivers in their commentary.

I don’t think Albon has been awful this season, his performances haven’t been good enough but I do think a large portion of the blame lies with Red Bull, they put too much pressure on their young drivers, it’s no coincidence how many young drivers have ended up the same and obviously with the added pressure of a team mate like Verstappen that going to be hard for any young driver to handle.

I agree with the decision to put Perez in the car but I personally think a portion of the blame needs to be shouldered by Red Bull, alongside Albon clearly underwhelming performances.

And by the way Crofty is a bloody muppet, the guy gets more things wrong over a race weekend than he does right, for me he’s the F1 equivalent of the Martin Tyler.

*BTW^ The car is not tailored to Verstappen, it’s been proven as a total myth. Verstappen is a generational talent, like Alonso or Hamilton and so is a more adaptable driver who gets more out of his equipment, the idea Red Bull build a car that suits only one of their drivers is farcical.

Very pleased for Perez, much too good to have not had a drive for a year. Albon strikes me as an also ran

Rosberg won because Hamilton bottled it, he doesn't like a decent driver in the same team.

You know that you are talking bollocks!

Three engine failures for Hamilton compared to Rosberg’s none was the only reason Rosberg won and he fecked off from F1 hours afterwards.

Come on Mouldy your RIDICULOUS agenda is making you look a complete MUG
