Another 'as a side'. An electric company owed me around £700 and it took months to get it back. On my day off whilst doing the books, I'd call them and keep them talking for hours (back then it was real people in the UK). When they hung up I'd ring again. Reckon, based on 6 months/24 weeks at 6 hours a time, their wage bill was more than they owed me. It was an 0800 number as well.

The CEO herself replied to me promising a reply within 5 working days from her “Senior Customer Service team”. This was six working days ago.

I have now sent a letter before action.

Oh give a rest whydoncha? You sound like that daft guy on here who wanted to take the Marina parking firm to court even tho ASDA had already said they'd cancel his parking ticket. You made some very poor decisions that night when your 'last train' to somewhere in East Sussex got cancelled shortly after half ten at night. You had multiple options available to you at that point. You chose the worst. You've been offered a fair old chunk of compensation. Time to suck it up and move on maybe?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ☹️

this maybe true but this is more about a Shite company making things difficult for people when they want action / complain.

Its a deliberate tactic so people don't bother.

In this instance , Don't let this organization win.

In 4 days time , we will all be getting fked around by them no doubt !!

And a £100 loss might not seem much to you, but that’s a decent amount of money to me. Regardless, this is a consumer rights issue protected by law. I have every right to pursue. As always with you moaning about threads you don’t like, I suggest you just ignore the thread, it’s what the feature is there for mate.

I'd take it all the way to the Supreme Court if I were you mate
Well no, this wouldn’t be an issue for the Supreme Court, this is the type of claim which is seen hundreds of times per day across the country in small claims courts. Those who know their civil rights and don’t want to be shat on by incompetent businesses.

Companies get away with this shit precisely because most people don’t bother pursuing when they’ve been wronged.

As I say, I think I’ve got a very strong case.

It took me 9 months to get a refund from Southern Water for a water leak in the mains from the meter to the house. I was also responsible for the moling and payment of a new pipe. Water companies responsibility ends at the meter. I was told I‘d receive a refund/good will gesture for the excessive charges it caused over three months in September last year, after jumping more hurdles than a 400 metre hurdle jumper I received it in June. I made at least 20 calls along with as many emails with proof of moling etc, which they kept “losing” and it became a matter of principal in the end although the £560 result made it worthwhile. Deal with a massive company, expect to get hassle when you have a claim against them. They all hope you’ll give up and go away. Don’t do that!

Won't be ignoring the thread. Along with many others I seem to recall I offered you reassurance on the night and, shortly after, practical options for minimising the chances of you ever finding yourself seemingly snookered next time. I wish you well, tho wish you were to stop over-obsessing on this one. A partial victory is still a victory tho eh? And like I said a couple of posts back, you made some very poor decisions that night

That’s just shocking. Glad you got the money in the end. I am fortunate my “McKenzie Friend” helping me with this is actually a paralegal, so I’m doing everything absolutely by the letter now. Exact times allowed for turnaround etc for the court to look favourably, numbers or requests, paper trail etc.

It’s more the principle than the money at this point

Oh I don’t think it’s over-obsessing, it’s a case of updating the thread every time there is movement. I didn’t, for example, mention my dialogue with James MacCleary MP - who, by the way, was on the local news yesterday talking about the exact issues with the route that I experienced. He lives in Newhaven and has had constant issues with journies back from London and is pressing Southern too.

It sounds suspiciously like Southern Rail noticed the Tom Hark Preston Park avatar saying he’ll post for money, and have buttered him up with rail vouchers to go on the defence.

Well played JC, good result. Shameful, though, that you have to go to such lengths.

I've just started two complaints for relatives (Moss Bros and Ikea).
Good luck, keep going and going if you have to - but hopefully yours will be sorted nice and quickly!
