Everton have really been splashing the cash, but have they spent it well?

AJ is not worth £8.6 million in my opinion, after only one season in the Premier League. Lescott is a very good defender and one that I rate , but is he really worth £5.5 million?

Its at times like this that I understand why some managers dont buy English players as much. £14 million on those two is a lot of money in my opinion.

Lescott isnt that good and never will be.

Both good players but i think they have probably paid 2 million quid over the top for both.

and there's still talk of them going after Huth. Maybe they are still spending the Rooney money? But like you say both Johnson and Lescott seem overpriced, although haven't seen it confirmed that the Lescott fee was £5.5m

86 goal in 3 season is a good return for any striker

Not to start another AJ debate, but 4-5 million, that would be a fair price.

Only one of those seasons was in the Premiership. Remains to be seen if he can do it again in a higher league, and he didnt even score in either of your play-off games.

Lescott is a good player but injury prone and that is a lot of money to pay in my mind for someone that has only played one year of top flight football.

Lescott makes Leon Knight look like a humble and down to earth gentleman.

Everton haven't really recovered yet from losing Graveson to Real Madrid the other year.
He almost single-handedly made them a top 6 side. It was no surprise when they didn't have a good season last year, as they never really replaced him. Now they have Johnson, Beattie and McFadden they shoould be able to score a few goals between them. I also agree that Lescott has looked a pretty decent player whenever I have seen him play. His huge forehead and silly hair does make him look a bit of a pratt though.

Still, I bet it will make those loveable scousers laugh though :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Should be ripe for a World Cup debut then. I hear someone brothers friends dog rates him and knows someone at the FA who can pull a few strings.

Okay, hypothetically, who would you prefer ? Johnson or Zamora ?

Zamora for sure - and that's not just because I'm a Brighton fan. He is definitely a better player at this moment in time.

I would agree totally, he can stay upright for longer for a start.

Come on, take away the 10 penalties he scored in the Premiership and Zamora had a far better season last season than Johnson had the year before.

Yes but he's still got more Premier experience. And he's got more hair.
