I agree. The ref could easily blow if there is a possible pen/red card incident, wait for a replay and decision by VAR official and then give the correct decision first time. It would be done in a fraction of the time and would stop all this overturning, changing mind scenario. Everyone knows going to the monitor has one outcome.

Not equally. Suggesting that Dunk craftily slid his foot under DCL's has zero credibility. Dunk's slide began a whole stride prior, there can be no question of intent to do that.

Anyone suggesting it's a foul is having a brain fart. If a player treads on another player's foot it can't be anything but accidental unless it was a deliberate stamp down then that player deserves to be sent off and banned. In this case he just brushed Dunk's foot which was comfortably on the ground, the contact was made by DCL who went down from a snipers shot.

very disjointed in a lot of the first half but when the front 4 clicked it was a joy to watch. Minteh is so quick and strong that he will create lots of chances with his pressing. Thought MW and JM in midfield was ugly in the main and with mooted new signings hopefully not a pairing to be repeated often. Lots of room for improvement but promising start and signs of really good squad depth when you look at who didn’t get on. Really hope FH gives Barco good minutes as absolutely love watching him play.

It was much more open than I expected and Everton came at us very strongly. McNeil always seems to have a good game against us, in my mind, but they hardly gave him the ball. Maybe after that miss I could see why!

MotD implied that the first half shot that hit the post, and they missed on the follow up, was a huge chance. But it was given offside anyway and it was clear as they broke free. I thought the editing made it look like Everton were more in it than they really were.

Nope. Trying to make the game look more even than it was. We started slowly, but they had: a good, but regulation save; an offside goal and an offside breakaway (which they wouldn't have had if he hadn't been offside) where they hit the post.
