Just far enough away from LDC
A few years ago I was on a 3 day residential training course near Woburn and the World Golf Championship was on, and a few of the pro's were in the same Hotel as us - one day at breakfast we saw Nick Faldo sitting on his own over his bacon and eggs (he was the Worlds Number One Golfer at the time).

My friend went over to him and asked if he could talk to him about an opportunity that his son had been given to join the PGA Tour - we all thought that he'd be given short shrift. Nick welcomed him to his table, sat him down, ordered more coffee and talked to him for about 20 mins, openly and friendly - and was apparently very helpful.

His son chose not to join the PGA Tour though!

That's an interesting one as I'd always assumed that Faldo would be a complete arse

I used to work in a lighting shop in Camberley, Nick Faldo came in and bought expensive light fittings for his Wentworth House, Really nice bloke, was happy to chat about golf etc. I was on a tv gameshow a few years back, hosted by Carol Vordeman, she was fantastic, took time to sit & chat and have a laugh with all the contestents and their partners...bloody gorgeous in the flesh!

Saw Simon Jordon (x Palace chairman)in about 2003 I was watching my son at Cricket practice and he was watching his Neice swimming at Edenbridge lesure centre...." I said hows it going at the palace"....well he did not stop talking for about an hour!! I dont think I got a word in TBH, he was OK, but it was all me, me ,me... but it was exactly how I expected him to be like.
(like a lot of palace fans he was disgusted at the way BHA were being treated...which was nice)
