Howard Marks, aka Mr Nice. A philosophy student from Maesteg, who was very good at playing Go. Later to become the World's Most Wanted Criminal.

Beat this : not only did i meet David Bowie and chat with him and his band for about an hour in the dressing room at the Assembly Hall Worthing in May 1972 (just about 6 weeks before Ziggy came out, and he made it really big), but he pulled me up on stage during the encore, gave me his guitar, and I played along for a bit with the band while he did a crowd-surf, or at least tried to....only about 200 people there. 50p to get in, i recall......yet within 6 months he had sold out the Carnegie Hall.....
Plus, he also offered me and my girlfriend a lift home in his battered old Jag. We had to decline as our pushbikes were out the back !
Good job I didn't know back then that was going to be the highlight of my life......
I lived just round the corner from Mick Jagger's family home in the 60's and regularly saw and spoke to him when he visited his parents.
Often saw Leo Sayer (well he was quite famous once - if only briefly) on the bus from The Steine out to Portslade/Shoreham.
Ran against Steve Ovett as a youth - he was shit hot........I was just shit
I was mates with Beth Cordingly's brother Matt, she was only 12 when I knew her though.
...ha ha I've worked out who you are.I was same year at school with Matt, and was friends a bit, and my sister was schoolfriends with Becky. I'm wondering who you are now
