As good as he is, and for nostalgic reasons it would be nice.

But, is there any real truth to him possibly returning,? Bournemouth only bought him 5 months ago for £4 million. Seems unlikely they would ship him out on loan already.

But they have signed 2 strikers for big money and only let Kermorgnant go. So it appears either GM or Tomlin will go out on loan.or sold.

The longer we go without signing a striker the more hopeful I am that we will get GM on a 93 day loan at the end of the transfer window.

I'm with you on this. Not a massive outlay or risk and we know he can do the business better than most of the strikers we currently have. Must be well down the pecking order at Bournemouth. Not convinced the board have any intention of spending around 7 million this window contrary to so many rumours over the last few months.

I agree we could do with a new striker but it seems many have forgotten what a catch Wilson was/is. He clearly hasn't been right for the last 5 or 6 games so I'm not even counting them really. He could WELL be THE striker as it turns out... In terms of when he CAN'T be recalled maybe Insider could confirm the date?

Thanks

I think the new striker is proving difficult to ''Land'' so to speak at the moment but there is still plenty of time. Still almost 2 weeks left.

I think the problem with Wilson recently is not so much Wilson himself but our team not creating so much for him recently. Wilson looked good early on when we were creating more chances. Consequently with us getting some injured players back we might start to create more again and then we might see him look livelier again

If the board had no intention of spending £7million, why are they putting in bids for players for £7+million?

I'm not buying the theory that it is just a ruse to pacify fans and encourage season ticket sales, the leaks were all coming from the players end, the club has been dignified and silent.

Disappointed that we have no additional strike power. Underwhelmed if we sign Murray, confident the recruitment team are trying hard, playoff lottery only if no signing.

How do you know we have made bids of 7 million? I have heard rumours but that is it. If the club have remained silent how can you possibly KNOW that we have made bids that are three times the club record?

All Chinese Whispers as far as I am concerned.

Why would reports just spring up In Argentina about us, a club that most Argentinians have never heard of, if there wasn't an element of truth in it?

I have no doubt that we have made enquiries. Stating we have made offers of over 7 million is a massive leap

You could bid £1000 for a car that you knew to be worth £1600 so its a win if you get it but no loss if you dont.

The disputed point here is not whether we bid what he might be worth, it is whether we bid at all? The fact that we might have low balled is moot.

Any sensible opening bid when you are first to the table will be low. That's business.

We won't get the best out of Wilson unless he's played in his correct position, DOWN THE MIDDLE!! He's been drifting far too wide of late. When he arrived our midfield played the ball through for him to run onto . Do this and the goals will come. He's a center forward not a bloody winger!!!

Strikers are meant to run around a bit, running wide to draw out a defence and coming deep for the same reason. Also run to the near post. The only real advantage of 4-4-2 or having two strikers in the box is if one is running around a bit.

Hemed is a bit static and O'Grady was stationary.

There's always Dwight Gayle for £6 million.

He comes to the Amex, scores a few, we get to the playoffs, make it to Wembley, it's 2-2 after extra time, we're 5-4 down to Burnley on penalties, Gayle steps up, balloons it over the bar, sticks his shirt over his head to reveal a 'Palace forever' T-Shirt underneath. NSC goes into meltdown, but on the PLUS side NSC has it's busiest 48 hours of all time, just think of the ad revenue!

if Stephen Naismith is worth 8.5m then I am starting to wonder how much a 'special' striker would cost. Madness

I heard an interview with Wilson when he first came to us and he said that he's the type of player who likes to run onto the through ball. He did this to start with an it worked. Why are the team not playing to his strengths? We have two wingers in our team so why does he need to run wide?

To show them what a winger should be doing running at the fullback and not passing backwards all the time

I think this is called the second striker, running off the shoulder of the last defender using his pace to get clear. Peter Ward style. It really depends if the striker has the pace to get clear (Baldock hasn't) and the pass is precise. Peter Ward could take the ball on the half turn and get clear but higher up the divisions the speed margins became less and less.

Nothing wrong in this at all. Can even collect short passes and flick ons from the target striker and get clear. Nothing to stop him running wide as an alternative tactic.

The glaring fault of the 4-4-2 is the side will get outnumbered in midfield, and with better teams with equally good midfielders we get outplayed. Play 4-3-3 and we can can have an extra midfielder, play on just one wing at a time. If we want to switch play suddenly to the opposing wing, instead of having a second winger we only need an overlapping full back, or our second striker running wide.

I would use Lualua as the second striker. Put Knockeart on the wing and have Zamora or Hemed as he main notionally target striker.

If I had my way I would go back to playing with 5 up front, 2 wingers, an inside right, a center forward and an inside left. What would be the outcome?
