All I'll say about the pen, even though I didn't think it was, is that it would have been given a foul anywhere else on the pitch as Dumfries is second to the ball and late to the challenge.

This is the problem with penalties. It's not just about a foul happening inside the box. It's the strength of that foul. Most football fans would agree that it's not a penno inside the box, but outside the box we'd have our arms up for a foul.

England's best 45 mins for a very long time that. The Dutch have just sat behind the ball and tried to counter and that's rarely happened. It can be a little ponderous still, wrong pass picked, but overall much much better.

Over to you Southgate. He must also use the subs right to get us over the line.

Well that was a more entertaining first half from England than all their performances put together so far in this comp.

The issue is that it's Harry Kane that follows through. So can be argued that Kane kicked Dumfries so not clear and obvious, therefore VAR shouldn't have given it

Happy to eat humble pie, but need to show Spain it won’t be easy and beat the Dutch in the 90mins.

Wasn't a pen, was a pen...........well it was because it was given. Can we just take it and move on. Thanks.

Having seen the replay, I think Pickford should save that
A decent ‘keeper saves that. He’s often beat like that, couple of times against the Albion at least.

You can't shoot and not follow through. If Dumfries had stood still, then yes, it would be Kane kicking him. But Dumfries puts his studs up to get the ball, and is late.

Nah, unsighted and past him like a bullet.
I'm no fan of Pickford to say the least, but I reckon it would take a worldie save to keep that out

Finally, 45 minutes where watching England hasn’t felt like a chore

Never a pen, but we’re miles better than we’ve been… well after we fell behind anyway… Bart looks superb when playing out, with those slightly longer balls into the midfield (I guess RDZ no likey) absolutely brilliant…

Let’s not kid ourselves though - The Dutch, Bart and big Virgil aside, are bang average, not sure how they’ve managed to get to this stage but there you go…

We can win this one, but Spain are a different level altogether…

Bart doing well, and England dominant. Enjoyable would just like us to win in 90
Did you see Bart got nutmegged on his goal line, he got lucky as his player cleared it. Otherwise he has been okay.

A second half like that and we go on and win, we have an energy that has been lacking so far in this tournament
