Is it even possible to determine the exact moment of impact in which a player plays the ball in an offside call?
With this system that has sensors in the ball, probably yes. It’s still shit though. Too precise if anything.

But the Danish goal was offside so it couldn’t have been given…..and it was a definite penalty. The two German “goals” were correctly chalked off as well. All the big decisions were correctly called.
Am not indicating any official did anything wrong but was emphasising the decisions were so hard to see nobody would have even mentioned it post game if they had gone the other way. Offside is offside and at least this one was his foot which I have always thought should be the part of body that is judged like other sports. As far as the hand ball is concerned decisions like this are poor for the game and spectators and the rule must be changed.
I have just had breakfast with our American guest . He is sporty but not into football but after watching game with me I am today still trying to explain the hand ball rule and all he goes on about is impossible to keep hands down because they are needed for jumping and balancing etc.

Georgia put an already-qualified Portugal to the sword last time out, and if anyone can give Spain the shock of their lives it's these tenacious little buggers. 16/1 for the win with bet365, 13/2 for the draw.

Oh, and Slovakia are a tempting-looking 15/2...

But it isn’t impossible as we see players routinely tuck their arms behind their backs when defending.

Getting back to the pen….I agree the wording of the law is crap and a subjective call as to what is a natural and an unnatural arm position has to be made. That said, a line has to be drawn somewhere otherwise any flailing limb would be “natural” and we might as well forget about the rule. For me the Danish defender’s outward and raised arm was handball.

Not to the level of accuracy that it's being used for, no. There's no allowance for the time the sensor takes to detect the ball has left the boot (does it even detect that bit or just contact?) or for the transmission and processing of the data, it's utter BS to determine mm of difference based on those variables.

This. A forward could travel around 5m in half a second, so trying to nail offsides down to toenails is madness

McCoist and Tyldesley are by far far far the best commentary team on TV at these euros, yet it’s the last time they are paired at the tournament…

Oh well, at least we’ve got Sam Matterface
I’ve only just caught up with this but why did ITV let him go, in the middle of a tournament?
