The players and football writers love Southgate. Players …. he’s a libertarian, the writers …. he cleverly got them onboard from day one, they’re party to everything and have full access. Even this week John Cross and Henry Winter on the radio in love with GS.

Somehow we've contrived to scrape out of the easiest group in the tournament, scoring 2 goals in 3 matches, both of which were a result of lucky deflected crosses.

And now somehow we get to play a third place team.
