Disagree. Marseille was followed by two more guaranteed away games so people were less inclined to travel down there. I think many people could only afford 1 of 3 and opted for Amsterdam given our numbers out there. Also, the amount of people racking up loyalty points suggests high demand
Also think Marseille fans reputation put a few off.

I think flight seats to Baku will almost be as scarce as tickets to watch the game, soo few airlines fly there.
At least 4 flights from Istanbul to Baku on March 6th, around £160 for the round trp.

The only thing that may be cautionary on booking flights is if both Lisbon clubs win their R32 ties, they both hold first leg advantages, they will both play home first leg in R16 if they win. They can't both play on Thursday 7th March.

If we get one of them it could be wed 6th?
Both Lisbon teams going through would certainly be a problem.

Especialy if we get one Lisbon team and West Ham get the other....

Think if Baku was drawn there would be club charters organised. There are no UK direct flights
As I said on another thread, I know someone in the air charter business and he has said that post-pandemic, it is difficult to charter large aircraft at short notice because a number of airlines have gone out of business (including Thomas Cook), many flight crew left the business and many less fuel efficient aircraft have been decommissioned.

Even cruise companies requiring charter flights have struggled to find companies to help fill their schedules for the winter.

Another consideration for booking accommodation is when will the ticket collection and the bus loading/drop off locations be announced.?
I booked tall the hotels before these locations were even mentioned, and Marseille involved taking two trams to get back to the hotel afterwards.

This. Chat on Sunday at Sheffield was a general "only here for the points".
With each Euro away match costing around £550, many picked the best, namely Amsterdam.
7th is a one off, until the next one off in April, May and a final.

I've just booked 'central' hotels and hoped for the best. Club wont release any details until the last minute, guaranteed.

Is this seriously “a thing”?

Whatever happened to going to support the team?

Back in the day, we used to travel up and down the country, we were lucky if we got applauded by any of the players.

To a certain extent I think it has - although probably only for this season whilst we're in Europe.

Otherwise would we really have had 3,000 at Sheffield on a Sunday at 2pm when the game's on TV?

Not really sure about this points thing.

It won't make much difference, as those who already have the top level of points are likely to be in attendance anyway, pushing the first dibs thresholds up.

Back in the day we weren't in the Premier league, playing in Europe and you could just rock up on the day and pay cash to get in.

We're still travelling up and down the country at a greater cost, and still supporting the team.

The woman behind me yesterday was gutted when I told her that the Wolves FA Cup points wouldn't go on to her total in time for Europe after she was saying she is only doing these games now for the European trips

Hard hat already on because I know I'm going to get pelters here, but a way to avoid the "only here for the points" mentality would be to not reveal how many points is available for each game. They just get added after and only then do you find out. Would ensure that people are there to support the team and not 'other reasons'.

Certainly not the worst idea. I think it was Stoke in the cup last season they advertised as 5 points, then after the match gave everyone who attended 15. I could well be wrong, but sure that was the case.
