But the Netherlands / France / Belgium are closer to you than Wales - so by your logic of proximity bias...? Or have I read that wrong?
Sorry, I hadn't thought about your comment properly begore I replied earlier.

For me, proximity means somewhere I can walk to. Or cycle to. OK, or drive to without having to show my passport. If there is any swimming, sailing, chunnelling or flying necessary it ain't proximal

I’d completely forgotten that prick.

and largely erased the game form my memory. Coming back to me now - 1-0 up through Dunk, then Stephens got a stupid red, and we ended up losing 2-1, with the (Sol Bamba?) winner about 3 yards offside.
And was pissing down with rain

Bamba was slightly offside on the first attempt. VAR would have ruled it out nowadays as it was part of the passage of play. Seems to remember it may have been on the box. Or perhaps that was another match down there.

So DID I ..................... then I lived in Scotland for six years. Lovely people - individually - but collectively? ABE trumps sectarianism any time!
I have had to work with them. ABEs the lot. Once again, however, I think the thing the jocks hate most is us patronizing them.

I wish them the best, I really do. It would be terrific for Scotland to qualify for a major tournament again. I'm confident that it really will happen. Soon. Good luck to them. They don't have it easy. It can't be nice, living up there.

The attitude from most people on here is probably why the United Kingdom is doomed.
Out of Europe and happy to see countries joined to England as foreign states :(
Oh for heaven's sake. Those closest to your football ground or your city, region or country will often be your closest rivals.

That said, I will normally always support the home countries at tournaments, especially Scotland and both Irelands. But ever since that notorious video of Bale and Co in that hysterical celebration when England lost to Iceland, I've thought "fook 'em". That's my approach to the football rivalry and NOT to the wellbeing of the principality and the Welsh people. Massive difference.
