Me and a few friends will be going out to SA after the first group stage, we don't have a ticket between us.

Must meet up for a beer when you get back as I want to hear all about it.(Giving this tournament a miss mainly coz of cash, but also, with a young family, just in case...).

Be safe, lucky and have a great time old kiddy.

thanks mate - I've done a couple of homes on my FAN number so hopefully have a coupler points...

Caps only stay on for the next tournament period. So any you earn now will not qualify for France I'm afraid!

For the world cup, EF+ got an allocation of about 7-12% of the capacity of each stadium to sell to fans. Not a single game has sold out so far. If you do not go through your countries FA, then they just have application stages, so you can either apply to follow a country (you would buy all 7~ tickets for that country, but then get refunded if they go out early) or just individual matches, but this happens before you know the games.

EF+ is by the far the easiest, and alot of people just do a few home games and 1 away game to ensure they qualify to apply through the FA.

As it is only in France, I would expect demand to be massive, however

Glad you added the last line! Do not judge ticket demand for a European tournament by the South African ticket buying experience. For Germany you needed something like 25 caps to ensure tickets for any game via England Fans. France will be similar if not worse. You will have to do far more than just "a few home games and 1 away game".

Yes this will ensure that England Fans is much more competitive post 2014, especially if we win the bid for the World Cup in 2018. I have 34 caps at the moment but will have to rebuild before this.

That's an impressive total! How long will you be in SA for?

With the 70/20/10 rule though, you could get lucky

I think you need to clarify "way over the odds"!

In Lisbon in 04, on the day tickets were c£400.

In Cologne in 06, on the day tickets were c£500.

And when parting with that amount of cash, you really dont want to have been sold a pup, which with the quality of forgeries these days, you might only find out when the electronic ticket checker gives you the red light! Saw several in Cologne that happened to.

Was in Lens/Paris during France 98. Tickets for England games, through England Fans or elsewhere, were hard to come by then. Now, with travelling away with England being even more popular, they will be even harder to come by unless you are minted.
I remember Cologne. Started out at €700 a ticket, and ended up at over €800. Silly money!

Kiss goodbye to a trouble free tournerment then:wave:
:

Why do you say that? Portugal and Germany were pretty much trouble free.

"Lads" tend to keep a low profile in such West European tournaments these days, replaced by the hordes of smiley, happy, England face painted, Mexican waving fans these days.

(That is unless we get put in Marseilles again-surely UEFA has learnt FIFA's lesson!).

Although i wouldn't class it as large scale you still had 4 or 5 nights of rioting in Albufeira during Portugal involving hundreds of England fans and didn't the Police cordon of and make 600 preventative arrests in Germany when England fans tried to get to German fans?

French cities(Marseille the biggest) have large ethnic suburbs which always seems to make things worse and Euros usualy involve Poland/Turkey which makes things worse. Easiest place to get to,summer etc.....we will have to see

I didn't even know the draw was made yesterday, something telling me it was abit of a con espically with Platini being French!

platini wasn't on the panel ...

i feel sorry for the turks, they lost by one point, and have applied the last 3 times. i imagine they'll get it next time.

out of interest, should the poles and ukrainians really mess up, which is probably unlikley, who would host the games last-minute?

That is what I want to know, who came second in the bid?

There is a strong hint that 2012 maybe moved, because they are well behind in the building work

If I had a pound for every major sporting event where this has been said and everything has been ready on time .....
