So that'll be 3 major football tournaments in 32 years - good going. We - the home of football - have had 1 in 43 years.

Thanks to Lord Triesman than run now looks like being extended to 1 in 54, with Euro 2020 our best bet.

I for one blame Triesman, Dont like the mail but they have to sell copy.

It's a bit of both but to deliberately stich someone up to almost ruin our bid is sick - sorry but that's not the way the press should work ATALL. They'll sell a lot more papers in 2018 if the WC is here :lolol:

I'm glad France have got it, obviously easy and fairly cheap to get to, and we should take a massive following!

So did you think the same when Piers Morgan/The Mirror put our boys in even more danger in Iraq by printing fake pictures of our boys torturing Iraqis?:censored:

Spot on. The media are shit when it comes to causing shit for us, the people who live in this country.

France 2016 will be immense. Easy to nip across and come back, a few long weekends and day trips could cover the whole England part of the tournament.

sell my copy my arse. I accept that, but they should also try to reflect public opinion. Public opinion is almost 100% behind the bid and so should all of the press. For them to try to scupper the bid in this way was outrageous and I will never be buying their paper again (not that I have done for many years anyway!!)

Don't ever believe the 'don't travel without tickets as you wont get in' bollox. It may cost way over the odds but you can always get a ticket. Me and a few friends will be going out to SA after the first group stage, we don't have a ticket between us.

At Italia 90 the English F.A. even set up their own ticket booth at matches!

I think you need to clarify "way over the odds"!

In Lisbon in 04, on the day tickets were c£400.

In Cologne in 06, on the day tickets were c£500.

And when parting with that amount of cash, you really dont want to have been sold a pup, which with the quality of forgeries these days, you might only find out when the electronic ticket checker gives you the red light! Saw several in Cologne that happened to.

Was in Lens/Paris during France 98. Tickets for England games, through England Fans or elsewhere, were hard to come by then. Now, with travelling away with England being even more popular, they will be even harder to come by unless you are minted.
