Common sense tells us that we won't convince the EU we are ready for 'no deal' by running a dredger for a couple of days and driving 80 trucks and a dustcart down the M20.

Common sense tells us that if we invested a few 10s of Billions putting customs posts in Northern Ireland, building lorry parks at all the ports, putting IT infrastructure in place, designing, building and testing systems and recruiting and training staff to operate the new 'no deal' procedures and tariffs, then the EU would probably believe we are serious about 'no deal'. Of course, this may well take a few years.

Or maybe we could just tell them we are serious about it in a very stern manner and convince them that way

Who did you vote for last week and how did they get on

I think Ranvir had it right on GMB this morning.

People voted for parties with a clear direction. The Tories and Labour got mullered because no one really knows what their party policies are.

And therein lies the ultimate problem. The Brexit vote was a free vote. The moment it happened we reverted back to party politics with leavers and remainers on both sides.

What both parties seem to have forgotten is that although they may want to win a GE and govern the country, no one actually wants them to because they can’t be believed or trusted.

And that is because of what they’ve both failed to deliver on Brexit.

What's more striking is that Brexit Party voters have elected someone who has defended Gary Glitter's right to do what he did. Wonder how many of them actually looked at the candidates and what they stand for other than Brexit? Did they look and not care or do they actually agree with them?

I don't think many people actually want No Deal. A good deal would be preferable but we must be prepared to walk away if necessary to have the best chance of getting a decent deal. That's just common sense. Blair & co constantly telling the EU we can't possibly leave without a deal just weakens our position and means we don't get anything even close to acceptable. That suits Blair & co just fine obviously as they can then push to stop Brexit all together.

The EU Parliament (27 other countries) have all agree their side of the deal. Our position cannot be weakened because they won't change their position. It is either No Deal or Revoke now, unless we compromise.

They didn't do well but if you didn't vote for Change for voted for another remain party, so who cares. Change would be better off joined to Lib Dems.

That will almost certainly happen.

I would like to think that many voters were holding their noses as they placed their " X's " in the polling booth, politics certainly makes for some strange bedfellows.

So who was it - surely not Widdy?

Who mentioned no deal in 2016? It was all supposed to be sunny uplands, they need us more than we need them, easiest deal in history, Brexit dividends etc, etc...

We another vote to settle things once and for all, NO DEAL or NO BREXIT

You guys need to tell the truth what no deal means...

No deal? Sunny uplands, isn't it. Taking back control of our borders. Freedom to fish from Iceland to Biscay.

I did laugh this morning to hear Widdy say 'they said if we voted to leave all sorts of disastrous things would happen. But they haven't!' Nicky Campbell simply couldn't be arsed to say the obvious......

You’ve been saying that for nearly three years. How’s that “taking back control” thing working for you?

No sour grapes at all. Where do you stand on the question though, did you look at the candidates and not care about the Gary Glitter thing (as just one example) , or did you not look at them at all? Genuinely curious as to the thinking - I can just about understand denial of facts and evidence because that's confirmation bias, but to vote for a party that has candidates so against moral norms is a bit of a leap from even that.

Exactly.

It’s clear that ‘No Deal’ won ‘Brexit’ last night.

The major parties now need to either get behind either No Deal or Revoke and get the country to sign it off via a vote ASAP.

theres a very odd analysis i hear from the pundits, that at the same time Conservatives will need to go hard leave to pick up the Brexit vote, Labour need to soften to pick up the Liberal/Green vote. overlooks there will be many Conservatives voting Liberal, many Labour voting Brexit, and other switches.
