Only if the oppositions' job is to be properly socialist, which is unelectable. But, more to the point, this current lot in charge are so far to the right that Rory Stewart (had he stayed on) or the Lib Dems or even Tugenhat could be said to be doing the job of the opposition. Kier Starmer's job now, sadly if you're an old fashioned lefty, is to be electable, because, if he isn't then we're stuck with the neo-fascists for another four or five years and they'll erode any opposition at all undemocratically in that time, in the name of "we voted Leave in 2016".
This.
I no more like seeing union leaders petitioning over issues that are not to do with the interests of their members that are the responsibility of the employer (and not the government) to consider, than I like seeing MPs on picket lines.
And the day I see the labour leader marching on a day of union-generated national action instead of being the leader of the opposition is the day I resign from the labour party (for the second time).
And in other news, I'm inviting my window cleaner round to do a bit of plumbing, while my plumber is setting up shop as a cardiac surgeon. It's all fluids and tubes, isn't it?
