I don't see why all the doom and gloom on here. We haven't lost yet, we only have to beat Slovenia to qualify for the next round.

I just feel that this poor start will really get the players fighting for the rest of the tournament. I can see a thumping win against Slovenia and then we won't look back.

My biggest concern was us hitting the ground running too early, looking brilliant early then dissapointly crashing out again in Quarters.

We'll still make it to the quarters at a minimum but think we'll go further:thumbsup:

Anyone else feel the same way?:clap2:

Nope not really. I think we have to face up to some realism and admit we are crap. They all looked out on their feet yesterday, no tempo, no movement, passing was inept, was like they have never played with each other before and just lethargic. Rooney at the end summed it all up for me. A complete embarrassment imo.

I hope you're right, we're certainly capable of putting 2-3 past Slovenia, the qualifiers showed us that. Something needs to change in the players mentality between now and Wednesday though. One of the weirdest things about last night was when Gerrard was through on the right side if the box but seemed too scared to shoot and squared it instead. These are the sort of goals we've seen him bang in regularly during the past 10 years!

I'm with you HsH. We were outplayed by Algeria last night but I'm keeping the faith.

I say get the wags back so they can have a leg over, start up the card schools again to get some edge back(loseing thousands of pounds never harmed Owen, when he was in his prime) and let them all go on a twenty four hour piss up and trash some pubs(i.e euro 96)..All that will get them performing, after all Mr Capello this is England, stick your foreign ways up you arse!!!

The problem with this team is I think to many players feel they are an automatic pick, thus I feel next match Capello should ring the changes. Get some guys in who REALLY have something to prove and not this lot who seem to be living on reputation rather than England performances.

I think for all those with any sense, they know it's not the individual talent of the players that is the problem.

Teams like Slovenia, who are WINNING our group, wouldn't have a single player that would get into our 23. Their play maker and stand out player is Robert Koren, who failed to gain a new contract at West Brom:lolol: (Granted partly due to falling out with the manager, but all the same he's spent his last year in the championship).

Even the likes of Argentina have players that I don't think would be anywhere near our team (Gutierrez, Maxi Rodriguez)

The problem it seems to me is all these other teams players really step up for their country whereas we do the opposite.

Robinho is a shining example. Very poor in English football but looked an absolute world class player for Brazil the other day.

Going out on the piss together tonight would probably do this team the world of good. International rugby teams do it to let off steam when on tours so why would it be such a bad thing for football teams?

Maybe that's because he IS a world class and just because he didn't play brilliantly in English football doesn't mean he isn't. There are other leagues with a good standard of football you do realise?

we will beat Slovenia. Confidence will rise. We'll forget Rob Green's howler and play some really attractive football in R16 before losing on pens in the quarters

We were crap in the group games of 1990 as well as being less than ordinary in the second round against the Cameroon. Its like Danny Baker said the other night, '' We only go out when we start playing well''

I would like to see a lot of changes so various player buck their ideas up, in fact do the right thing and drop Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard and Heskey.
