So you think the Maltese FA can afford to fly a squad and support staff to Brazil?

You think Argentina want to fly to Faroe Islands to play in front of 1000 people (in a match shown during the morning back home)?

You think the players' clubs - the people who pay their wages - will be happy to see their superstars fly half-way around the world for a mid-week match?

You're mental.

And this doesn't happen at the Mo, Argentina just played a mid week match againgst Columbia, Tevez flew back, so did most of the two squads.

So you're agrument here is crap.

And Malta is so poor, that it can't fly 30 people to Brazil, yeah right. But can fly them to Sweden and stay in 5 * accomadation there.

And what is this incremental difference in costs between Malta playing Brazil againgst an Euro nation, and how come that difference is so great that Malta cannot just afford it and just will have to give up playing football and stick to playing Rumania, Russia, England etc.

Interestingly, Nigeria has just again done a friendly in London againgst Australia, great crowds, great turnout, great competion and nearly all the players only travelled a short distance. Nigeria do most of their friendlies here and France as of course, do a lot of other nations with their players permanently based in Europe.

No problem.

The problem here is in the mind and not based in reality.

So you don't think there's a difference between flying for a 'local derby' against Columbia and flying half way round the world for a meaningless match against the Faroe Islands?

And, yes, I'm sure Malta can stretch to a match in Brazil. But what about six or seven matches spread all over the world? What about Malawi or the Solomon Islands?

And, yes, Nigeria have a lot of European players. But Mozambique, Congo etc do not.

Anyway, I look forward to you lobbying FIFA and getting the system introduced in four years' time. :jester:

Yep, you won me over.

Only joking at the mo, but it will happen, why else are we planning to build Heathrow 6, which will be used under capacity until at least 2030, apart from hosting the World Cup in London and hosting the present so called minnows.

Am i right in thinking that the draw for this is this sunday and the draws for the 3rd round of the FA Cup and Euro 2008 are the following sunday?

The simple answer is pre-qualifiers for the smaller nations in each continent isn't it?
To weed out the Chad's and Sao Tome & Principe's, the Guam's, Liechtenstien's and the Guyana's from the World Cup so that the poorer impoverished nations who habitually lose out early at the moment habitually get knocked out early doors under the global qualification route.

It happens at the moment - the Asian group has already knocked out about 24 countries, they're down to the final 20 already (5 will qualify from Asia)

Jeez, sometimes the simplest ideas don't occur to the simplest souls!

Global qualification is coming - are you on board?
