if we hadnt bowled 35 leg byes we may be in a decent position, also that doesnt make Mr Ambrose look too clever behind the sticks - 41 extras to his name

It's coz he's a short arse innit

You can't blame the keeper for leg byes, blame the bowlers, the chances are they were bowled down leg side.

Im not at all, I havent seen any of them on TV. Its just extras go against the wicket keeper, and 41 given away by a whole team is shocking. If we had bowled 15 like South Africa, we would have only been behind by 50 runs and could have been more likely to make a contest of the this test match.

I still think we will win like

They don't though. I know wikipedia isn't a great source, but...

Extra (cricket) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No ball
These days a no ball is scored against the bowler, since this makes the bowling statistics more accurate.

Wide
In modern cricket a wide is scored against the bowler.

Bye
In the modern game a bye is scored against the wicket keeper.

Leg bye
Leg byes are not scored against the bowler or the wicket keeper, because they are not their fault and occur at random.

Although I agree with your general point. 41 is far too many. Despite that, it has (again!) been the batting that has let us down, not the bowling.

Shambolic. Moores out!

It doesn't exactly fill you with confidence to know that Paul Collingwood is now at the crease!:nono:

Wonder what the odds would be on this finishing today? England effectively 21/4 Could SA skittle us out pretty cheaply then knock off 150 or so later today?

I think a win might be out of the question now. A draw from this situation would be an excellent result and keep us in with a shout of drawing the series.

A win?! :lolol:

The problem with trying to scrape a draw is that we're only half way through the Test; we'd have to bat out the rest of today, all of tomorrow and probably another session on sunday. Given that the top 4 have lasted less than a session, I'd say it's somewhat unlikely!

if we get a draw, the team will be hailed as heroes, for showing the british bulldog fighting spirit, battling through adversity against all odds to sporting glory, rolling back the years to the 2005 Ashes

If we were bowled out just after lunch tomorrow with a lead of 200 I'd give the new ball to Freddie and Sidebottom. A well-lunched, boozed-up Saturday crowd should be able to generate a fearsome atmosphere.

I can't see the tail doing much against Nel and Ntini with the second new ball, so realistically we've got to amass as many runs as we can in the remaining 44-odd overs.

Will it happen? Probably not.
