Collingwood's test stats show that whilst he doesn't get many centuries he has an average of above 40.

He usually makes some sort of contribution with the bat. The problem with Freddie is that he's not as consistent as Collingwood, there's a decent chance that he'll make 5 or less which gives the bowling side two quick wickets and then they're almost into the tail.

Collingwood is also an exceptional fielder. You could argue this factor is worth 25 runs per match.

Just think, a mistake like that from Bowden puts Collingwoods place in the team in much more jeopardy, especially with Flintoff in fine form today.

He could lose his place in the test team, which could lead to his captancy in the one day team in question, he could then be dropped fromt eh one day team, and miss out on the stanford game and £500,000

All because Billy "look at me" Bowden made a wrong decision

There's no way he'd get dropped from the ODI.

If they were to drop Collingwood it would have to be for Shah, otherwise we'd be making our problem of not scoring enough runs even worse.

if they swap Collingwood for Flintoff they'd have to put Prior back in

Anderson will make way for Flintoff unless he takes a load of wickets in this match

Was it the last test England played he was on for a 10 for ages as he took out the top 6 or 7 NZ players.

He obviously must need to get all 10 to be worthy of a place in your side then!

If one of the bowlers go at the moment, it would be Broad for me.....but I wouldn't drop Broad either, for me it is a shootout between Bell and Colly. Unless Colly gets a ton in the 2nd innings, which I doubt he will even get a chance too (surely we will look to get all the runs required in this innings). It will be goodbye Colly for a while.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Flintoff will come back in as he is our best bowler

So for me it has to be a bowler that goes.

Broad is young and should be persisted with, as he could well turn into a vert tidy all rounder, Sidebottom has been our best bowler for the last 18 months.

It only really leaves Anderson...

Colly was unlucky today with the decision and as David Gower and Bumble say we should use the technology thats is available to ensure that we get the correct decisions.

I do not think he will lose his place to Flintoff. They need to end up with a 5 man attack, so one of Collingwood, Bell or Cook has to make way. At present it will be Collingwood.

However the issue is, do they want Flintoff at 6 or 7. Ideally he is a 7, so Ambrose may also go, as Prior can play at 6.

Flintoff is an all rounder (far more than Broad will ever be). He could replace either a batter or a bowler. Whatever makes the side better overall. At the mo that would be for Colly whom has been in desperate form for over a year.

Ambrose out for 4 - 'sake!

Prior is NOT a test class keeper. There's even less reason to have him in the team if you have Flintoff AND Broad as bowlers who can bat.

Jones, Prior and now Ambrose. They all started promisingly but turned shit. It's an issue that MUST be resolved before the Ashes.

Prior is not a test keeper, however the fact that England will not pick their one test class keeper means that Prior's test class batting means he is probably the best option.

Also the fact he is good enough to bat at 6 means he is a viable option.
