Is it this afternoon the time when McCullum realises the size of the task in front of him? Already feels like NZ have enough in the bank!

At last a Test Match appears to be breaking out!

Clearly you can get runs off this wicket if you get your head down.

By my reckoning, England have had 3 clear opportunities to stamp their authority and win this test match;

1 - NZ 45/7 just after lunch on Day 1
2 - England 92/2 with Root at the crease replying to 132 all out
3 - NZ 56/4 with a lead of just 47 today

England have screwed up every single one. How many opportunities does a team need to win a test?

Point 2. is the big one because points 1 & 3 are because the pitch is doing much once there is some age on the ball. You can forgive the bowlers a bit for that because it’s flat once the shine goes, so absolutely England’s batting to blame for not taking advantage of a decent start and an aging ball.

Anyone else see we got to 30 without losing a wicket and think it was promising.

Both openers gone 32/2

We have Bob Hope and No Hope of winning this. Absolute none - would be surprised if we get within 100 of the target.

Whilst Root is still there we have a chance. If he goes cheaply, then I'll agree with you.

Reasonable T20 cameo from Bairstow there.

Shame it’s a test match with 2.5 days play left.
